Carnegie Mellon has a BHA degree (Bachelor’s of Humanities and Arts) that is interdisciplinary…it is not for students interested in performance, but is perfect for those wanting to combine their academic study of theater with the humanities. When I spoke to an admissions officer, he told me that the student creates the “major” by choosing an area in the arts and one in the humanities to study, but they must blend the two areas together so that by the time they graduate they must be able to explain the connections between the two areas…your interests are english and theater. it would be extremely easy to bridge these two areas of study to complete the BHA.
