English during senior year is either English 12 Merit, or AP Lang or AP Lit. Students who don’t like AP classes take English 12 which is a merit class there’s no honors. Many kids feel like they are down grading.

How is it at your school?

Our school has college prep/honors/AP level courses for most classes, so most kids find a good fit somewhere in the regular/honors/AP …

Is there any way to summer study an honors course? What exactly is a merit course?

The main problem at our school is that kids downgrade their English and SS classes to honors or regular to focus on AP science and math. I wish I could learn it all, but unfortunately I need sleep and am not superhuman :P

Merit is for students who need additional assistance on the work/concepts in that class. Also there’s no summer study.

English is considered the “best” at my school. All the teachers brag on about how we have “one of the best scoring English schools in PA” or something like that…gets annoying.

We have core “idiots”/academic “regular”/honors or AP
Honors for 9th/10th, Pr-AP for 11th, and AP English Lit 12th…no AP English Lang
