English girl going to an american university

Ok so I would need a scholarship maybe in field hockey? I really like the sound of UNC and I have researched it and there is a field hockey scholarship and everything, would I fit in ok there and also are there any other american universities that I could get into??

Which college you fit in depends on a lot of factors more than what sport you practice. People here should be able to help you find one that fits (but you’ll need to give more info): <a href=“College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/

I also love creative writing and psychology and I lived in Texas for five years as a kid and I want to go back to America as soon as possible and I’ve put a lot of thought into the location as it will still have some southern feel but not as much of a cultural shock that Texas was and I just really love the state

Are you nationally ranked in field hockey? Because that’s how well you’d need to play in order to have a shot at a D1 school. Don’t dismiss D3 colleges, too, as long as your academics are strong.
You need to state:

 • GCSE results, predicted A Level results
 • parents’ budget
 • SAT or ACT score, if taken

Right, if you are very good in a sport (dunno if you have to be nationally ranked, but good enough to be an asset as an athlete), DivI sports coaches will recruit you and give you scholarship offers. DivIII schools may recruit you as well, but no athletic scholarships. Have you seen the level of competition (games) in DivI? Would you do as well?

How good are you in field hockey?

I have a D1 hockey player with several friends on UNC’s team. If you’re good enough, UNC won’t really care about GPA and test scores as long as they’re ok. I have other suggestions if you’d like to PM me.
