Okay, I’ll be a Junior taking calc next year, but there’s one problem: 11th honors english is the same period as Calculus BC. I am supposed to take both, as both are key courses for me. The error arose because I go to a small school with only one period of each class per day and because I am a Junior taking this math class which, in my school, seniors usually take.

What should I do? Should I pass on the Honors English and do BC or take AB and Honors English while self studying the BC material?

do honors english and Calc AB…u r only gonna be a junior, what’s the rush of doing BC Calc?

i would self study BC, i’m doing that right now and it’s pretty managable. AB provided me with a solid foundation first semester and BC is only the addition of like three chapters and just a few more concepts.

why not take a filler math class like stats junior and take the BC as a senior

Self study BC if you are taking AB, then take the BC exam which includes AB and move on to another subject later, since 11 H English is key to the curriculum.

Cool I think I will do that.

To post #3, I am already taking stats next year. Also, I want to take Calc II senior year.

If you self study BC you can take Calculus III aka CD aka Multivariable among a whole host of other names.

Really? Calc III is Multivariable calc? I had always thought Calc II is multivariable calc.

i think kman meant Calc II… added an extra I possibly?

yea i think calc 2 is mv…but why not just take ab?

No, Calc III is generally MV (It is at my cc and I’ve heard it referenced as so many times)

Anyways, yeah the AB route with BC self-study would be the best route to go

Yeah, in our text BC is 2 chs and then like a few sections of two other chps…it is managable. I would go that route (self study BC along with AB).

I would have self studied BC this year, but i just did regular AP AB since it’s the highest my school has and I’m a jr. Then next year i’ll have a designed self-study period (possibly only 3 days a week, since it shouldn’t take too long to cover the material) instead of math.

Calculus AB = Calculus I
Calculus BC = Calculus II
Calculus CD = Calculus III

Thats how I always thought they were. Btw CD = Multivariable.
