ESA animal mauls another passenger on airline flight

Hopefully most of the other airlines will follow Delta’s lead and then it would be great if this spreads to dogs in various stores and public locations!!

@yearstogo yesterday, I posted this in the Say it here thread

“O.K., I don’t mean to sound like a Grinch, but … seriously…in my 30 minutes at Nordstrom yesterday, there were not 1, not 2, but 11 dogs. After tripping over one when I first arrived (sorry, pooch), I noticed them all. Really??? It was frickin’ busy with shoppers looking at lists/phones, many carrying bags and many excited children, yet these owners seemed convinced that the dogs would have a great time at the mall. And to the owner of the one I tripped over–I would not have tripped if YOU had been paying attention to the dog YOU dragged to the mall. Don’t be giving me your snotty attitude…leave your dog at home if you can’t watch it.”

@gosmom - were we shopping at the same Nordstrom?! Egads. As much as I love dogs, they do not belong in retail stores unless they are REAL service dogs. We were shopping at IKEA last weekend… they have a playroom where parents can check their kids in while the parents shop. Nordstrom needs to have an equivalent of that - for dogs.

Friendly reminder that dogs ** DO NOT ** like crowded department stores…at all. I’m pretty sure they would rather be home alone.

My dog would absolutely hate being in a store. I love dogs and train mine to handle many situations but I would never take him to a crowded store. These people drive me nuts and will ruin it for people who really need their animals.

Well, it’s not a fake ESA animal this time, its a human heart!!! :open_mouth: https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/2298616002

Oh yeah. It was quite a drama here. Turns out, only a valve was supposed to be harvested… there were no patient waiting on the ground for it to be transplanted.

Still, a bad thing to accidentally leave on the plane, causing considerable expense and inconvenience to many!

Good thing it wasn’t in the main cabin or some fake ESA might have eaten it for dinner!

So today, after work I saw a purse dog in the PO, a big old “east Texas porch dog” in Home Depot, a sniffy little pug * in the cart!) at Old Navy (eeeeewwwww) , and a kind of lab-looking dog in a fake-looking vest roaming the produce aisles at Target.

I think we need a Movement…if you don’t want all these dogs in your food stores, make it known!

First time I saw a dog on my plane. It was a small dog and it was supposed to be behind my seat. I asked to be moved before we boarded. As soon as we took off, the lady with the dog asked the stewardess to make an announcement about her allergy to peanuts, so we weren’t allowed to have peanuts. I thought to myself if she considered if other passengers may have been allergic to dogs.

Delta is only banning ESA on flights of 8 hours or more. Really, there aren’t that many domestic 8 hour flights. A lot of press but nothing will change.

I do complain to stores, and my bank, about allowing pets in the store. ESA are NOT required to be allowed in stores or restaurants or even hotels. My bank has dog biscuits right by the lollipops, so actually encourages people to bring in their dogs. The federal regulation is only for air travel and permanent housing.

I’m in full support of flying with this type of ESA chicken!

Very clever marketing!!

The emotional support fish was going a bit too far.

How did the fish make it through the TSA checkpoint? The beta bowls I have seen are small but they generally hold more than 100 mL of liquid which is allowed by the TSA… maybe because there was a life thing floating in the liquid, the liquid was not considered dangerous? Or did she carry him in a ziplock baggie?

I guess other airlines will let a fish on but Southwest won’t. Pretty sure it would fit under the seat though. I’d much rather people take their fish than a dog or cat personally. They’re pretty quiet…

I think this is part of SW’s new policy designed to cut down on abuse. SW now only allows dogs, cats and mini horses as service animals and dogs and cats as ESAs. Shucks, I guess that means I have to leave my emotional support slug at home.

I believe it is time for the ESA law to change. No more ESA on airlines unless the person pays for the animal in cabin or in storage. The housing rules need to be tightened up too.

I’ll keep my emotional support amoeba at home them…
