Essay Midterm + Laptop = Trouble for Haas & Co.

Professor Ross Alan has threatened to come down hard on all those who have cheated on his essay midterm, which he allowed laptops to be used. He claims to have hard evidence on people who have cheated.

This summer, Prof. Alan allowed anyone who wanted to type up their essay midterm to do so. When they were done, they were allowed to e-mail themselves the file, run to the library to print, and hand it in. You weren’t allowed to use any resources your computer had to offer except for the blank word processor.

Many are scared ****less. What are his claims to having hard evidence? And how “hard” does he need it to be? Rumors have it that at least one student has been accused. Ross, through a spy in the back of the class, saw the student looking at his notes before the test. During the test, a similar outline of the notes was seen on his laptop. The suspicion is that he opened the original note file during the test, and copied the information over. The student claims he wrote the outline from memory. The note file has been sent to the computer science department and they will determine if it was opened during the test.

What are the procedures for being accused and trialed for cheating?

…and the student is (surprise) Peter.

haha naw, i’m not the one accused, i’m just one of the many thats scared

If you’re innocent then you have nothing at all to worry about, if you’re aren’t then I pray for you. How very interesting, it sounds like a strange test of business ethics. By watching those who opened up notes on their laptop, it’s another way he can determine who’s really learned “ethics” by weeding out the cheaters.

Anyways, why are so many people scared if it’s just one student?

smart smart professor
