<p>I was stressing over my college essay and was wondering, would talking about how I had to live alone for a few months because of my mom being in the hospital (how I had to mature, etc.) be an ok/good essay topic. And also for MIT, one of the essays is about your greatest challenge. This would be it. Could I talk about the same thing again? Or come up with another challenge from my life?</p>
<p>Try exploring the Essay Forum. But don’t use the same topic twice for one college, you’d be wasting a huge opportunity and boring them as well.</p>

<p>Yes actually MIT doesn’t use the Common App, so I rewrote it for one of their five essays! Would you say that college essays play a large role in the admissions process?</p>
<p>I think that’s a great topic; and yes, given that your grades meet their standards (for the most part) the next thing they look at are your essays and ECs.</p>
<p>Sounds like a great topic to me. And as stated above, MIT is not on the common app so this essay would even kill two birds with one stone… which is always the best!</p>
