Andover has recently discontinued History 340, its only year long European History course. Only a single one-term elective, covering 30 years of modern European history is now offered. By way of contrast Exeter offers at least six European history course. Exeter also still offers courses in the Classical Rome and Greece. Andover eliminated the study of classical Rome and Greece several years ago. How do people feel about this?

History 340 has not been discontinued permanently, it is simply not being offered next year. Another thing to notice is that many of Exeter’s courses are one-term courses so the 6 to two comparison isn’t exactly correct. Sure, Exeter offers a couple more European history courses, but Andover offers non-European courses that Exeter doesn’t. Is one better than the other? No, it just depends on your personal area of interest.
