Everyone discriminates against me

I just got three dejections from three college summer camps for scholarship opportunities. I LIVE in America and HAVE lived here only that I don’t have citizenship. I PLAN to live here too and all they can do is discriminate against me everytime I try to explain myself. Did anyone get into that situation? Any idea on how I can raise money ?

I have to say your tone hits the wrong nerve in me. I don’t know what admissions to summer camps are like, but not everybody gets into them, at least at my school. So maybe it’s not blatant discrimination as you assume. A friend of mine was accepted to a Yale summer program but was given insufficient money so she couldn’t go. Raise money: The same old get a job mowing lawns, babysitting, cleaning out people’s houses, help build something or other.

Do not assume it’s only your citizenship that blocks you from admission to a summer camp.

babybogus, i find ur claims to be utterly asinine.

what makes u think just because ur not a citizen, ur being discriminated… i can tell u one think…america’s one of the few countries that professes and FOLLOWS equality to all (except in a very few rare cases)

American preaches equality to all? lol…

Atleast it appears that way on the outside and thats what they try really hard to prject.

cmmn guys…US is a resl tolerant place
even after a hell of a lot out-sourcing…they still welcome us
let’s appreciate their open-mindedness
three cheers George ‘Dubya’ Bush

What’s outsourcing going to do with international students?

Sure, they welcome international students… But American immigration policy is at its toughest in many decades… most international students will have to leave the US after their 4 years in college, unless you get lucky…

u fail to c the loop-hole in that policy…
please tell me no senator’s goin to read the following

u need to leave ONLY after u finish ur course…and in US unlike india, there;s no limit on time for which u take the course…so u keep delaying the completion of ur course till u get a job…after which u get a H1…and then u offer ur esteemed servises to Uncle Sam

thou i don’t c the point tht…i’m returin to India after my Mtech be whatever…

sure… if you want to spend an extra $45K each year…
most international graduates will want to get some work experience in the US… and try to recover the money they spend on their education…

So if you don’t want to stay… you may be in the minority…

Equality doesn’t apply to International Students in terms of opportunities… There is some momentum to improving talent based work permits etc in the US, but atm many young graudates are being forced to return home

I never really got it why we call Bush as ‘Dubya’

lol… bush has a texan accent… So he calls double-u, dubya…
His full name is Georgia W Bush…

it is true that the US is probably the most tolerant and accepting country today. there are thousands of foreign nationals studying and working in the US today. other countries have way tougher guidelines for foreigners. in the past few years, they have stepped a notch in their stringency but that is understandable. they want to secure their country and every country has the right to do so…there are so many other countries that treat their foreign workers/students like crap…if ur in the US with the right intentions u got nothing to worry about. on the other hand, in terms of fin aid for int’l students…we can’t expect much…we don’t pay the taxes like the nationals do…so they atleast deserve some compensation for that…well…iguess i said a lot…well good luck and keep ur spirits high…don’t give up

US is tolerant and accepting? no

first i dont think a country can tolerate or accept u, but in terms of policies and people, US is not tolerant or accepting at all. immigration is nonexistant and the only reason there are international students is to suck money out of them, and when they done blowing you, they send u home.

do any of u know about the protests? entire skools get shutdown cuz they cant keep the students from walking out to protest the US’s worst immigration bill. any police cheif in socal can tell u they r trying their hardest to keep people out of the country. without mayor vialagrosa, LA might be arresting anyone carrying Mexican flags

and the US does treat foreign workers like crap, nobody treats foreign students like crap cuz students pay alot of money and dont make any
