Evidence of your intention to leave the U.S. after your temporary stay?

Hello,
I have a question regarding the visa application (F-1 student visa).
I am asked by the U.S. consulate to show “Evidence of your intention to leave the U.S. after your temporary stay.” The temporary stay will be 4 yrs. (undergrad. education). Could anybody who has already shown this evidence tell me what she or he did or suggest something? By the way, I apply from Germany and will go to JHU. I think this thread could help a lot international students.

Well are you talking about an official notification or are you just reading what’s said on the site re: the interview?
I’m an international student myself, I’ll be going to Berkeley this Fall, and my brother to JHU (you’ll probably meet! :))

If you’re talking about the interview, well this would probably come up with your interviewer asking you what your plans are after your degree, enquiring as to whether you plan on staying in the US.
I’ve had my visa interview already, as has my brother (we were both issued visas); it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. What I said, was true; I haven’t thought that far ahead! (this was as a reply to the interviewer asking me what my plans were after the degree) I added that I was thinking of Graduate school, or possibly working for a few years and then moving on for Grad school.

Re: the evidence of ties, it could be anything; family connections in your home country, an answer as to why you’d like to work in Europe or anything really. They just need to ascertain for the record that you are not, at this stage, going to the US for college in order to live there. If you do later, that’s a different story, however regulations require that they check this during the interview. However they might not even ask you this particular question! Don’t worry too much. Feel free to PM me if you want any more information.

Just tell them that your family ties back home are just too strong
