Exeter, Peddie, The hill

My name is Mohammed, I migrated from bangladesh a year ago to the US. I applied to program called NEW JERSEY SEEDS. Its an scholar program which picks top achieving kids from all over the state of NJ and test them three weeks at hill and do the final pick then they prepare you for some top private HS. I got a 6 percentile in my first test and then they prepared me for 2 1/2 months and i retook the test I got a 75 and my math was 96, verbal 51, reading 65. I will be taking an isee on 22nd. Seeds made me apply to these three schools with other schools like pingry, Choate, McCallie, Pomfret, and cate school.

I have been speaking english for 9 months now so i dont know will my english score question but my math is at 96 even though i did not learn a lot of algebra and geometry.
I also maintaned a straight A report card but i messed a liitle in ELA i had B+ and in 8th grade MP-1 i had a 89.85 in science. I dont know if these schools will accept me.
I also speak 6 languages learning my 7th and can read and write one but cannot speak fluently.
I am learning how to code python, Swift, HTML, and JAVA.
I also started stock trading recently.
Alongside i do a college bound program.

I am a good soccer player
decent basketball and baseball player.

This is all me, please describe your thoughts on me. Every feedback be appreciated.

I took ssat twice and now I will be taking an isee

Programs like SEEDS tend to have good relationships with the schools they work with, so my guess is that you will have at least one good option on M10.

As you are still learning English (and wow, what a great job you have done!), I suspect that the schools that admit you may be the ones that have a wider range of abilities in their student body (hill, Peddie) so that you will have a cohort as you develop your skills or they will have an ELL program.

Let us know how it goes – I think any school would be lucky to have you.

Nine months of English? Impressive. And you are good at baseball? Wow.

I don’t know much about SEEDS, but my guess is it is a big boost in admissions. Good luck, I have my fingers crossed for you.

Stock trading? It’s illegal for 8th graders.carefull with the law while on a visa

Wishing you the best of luck. Our school has lots of kids from SEEDS and they are all wonderful! Congratulations on all you have achieved since arriving in the US!

You should be fine; Bangladesh is quite unrepresented in BS demographics (all bengalis I know at my school are from WB) and the fact you’ve learned that much English so fast shows a lot of resilience to AO’s… something about moving could be a good essay topic too!

PS: Ami o bangali; jodi tomar kono proshno achhe jei tumi ingreji e jigesh korte paro na, amake ekta message pathao.

Thank you so much!! My first account is not getting recovered so this is my new account. Will let you know what happens.

And I do stocks under supervision of my adults, basically to educate myself about market. But I have a question do you think I have a chance in such a top school like exeter with what I have I mean I know 3-4 people applying with me are at close range of mines like in somewhere 76-80’s and only one kid is in 94’s. But I still tried let me know if you think I hold a chance in Exeter. Thank you for such nice responses.

My essay was about moving my seeds head guided me to that.

What school you go to
@CaliMex

@gardenstategal Thanks I will for sure

@bantonov I do it but with adults to educate myself and know whats going on I know its illegal especially as being just 1 year in the country.

@confusedaboutFA I really want to go to Hill because I have not seen a bengali flag there which I want there to be like all other country. But I am really because seeds has really great kids with me applying to those schools but let me know what you think. Thank you!!

@gardenstategal I hope exeter thinks the same as you do. but they are like Harvard no Mercy. Thank you though.

Hey! I am also Bengali from New Jersey and I was SEEDS class of 2018!

Ami asha kori je tumi ekta bhalo school e pao March 10’er shomoy. SEEDS bhalo connections rakse igla shop school’er shate ar tumar chinta korte hobe na.

Good luck!

@snapchat which school you went to.

I would strongly suggest you don’t mention stocks in your application.
This is similar as saying that you smoke under supervision. Kids are not supposed to do that.
Also somebody may think that if you have money for stocks you can pay for your tuition. The latter is a speculation.
Good luck with your top choice!

@bantonov you are absolutely right i didnot mentioned in my application though.
