Recently, I was interviewed for Exeter. Afterwards, I sent an email thanking the admissions counselor for her time and consideration. She sent an email in return.
Does this mean I have a good chance of being accepted?

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
No, it means that they were being polite. You may have a good chance. Or you may have no chance. But you cannot glean anything about your chances from that email.
As an FYI, I’ve edited out the email, because posting private correspondence violates Terms of Service.
Maybe I don’t understand prep school culture, but it seems strange for them the reply with so many personal details. They could be polite without discussing all of that. I would wonder what a letter like that meant too.
I agree of course that it was not a good idea to post about that sort of thing.
well, they’re admissions officers. they’re supposed to read your application and know the personal details about you that you choose to share with them. in order for them to vouch for you, they have to know you. they’re following orders, really.
Not going to lie, it’s a peculiar situation. Most of my interviewers didn’t bother replying, but I still got in. Nonetheless, I would say it would probably help more than hurt. Even then, I doubt that this would be the determinant factor as they have to look at your entire body of work.
