Hi Everyone,
So I’m a sophomore living in Virginia, and I’m trying to get into UVA. I was looking through the common app and I saw 10 slots for extracurriculars. I know you should go for depth rather than breadth, but I only have 3 major extracurriculars at the time, Speech and Debate (qualifying to NFL Nationals) and Future Public Leaders of America (a club I created to increase leadership and volunteering in the school). I also have about 25-30 community service hours. So, in order to get more activities, do you have any suggestions of what I can do? Do honor societies count as extracurriculars? Thanks.

Do what you like to do

There is no need to fill up all 10 slots! The form is set up so just about everyone has room to put in all the information they want to submit. If you have a few things you are passionate about, that’s plenty. Do them well; try to show your passion for them such as with leadership positions and awards. And yes, honor societies that meet regularly and do service projects or have other activities can be mentioned in the EC section.
