I’ve recently started wearing waterproof mascara. What’s the best, easiest and cheapest way to remove it??

Sephora sells what my D says a very good waterproof makeup remover. I personally have not tried it since I rarely wear makeup.

I use my neutrogena make up remover wipes for regular and waterproof mascara. It is not the easiest way, it is a bit of extra effort for waterproof, but it does take it off well with minimal effort and is very inexpensive.

I keep a bottle of clinique make up remover as well, the purple one, and honestly it lasts forever so even though clinique isn’t inexpensive it is probably cost effective. Now with that, any mascara melts right off in seconds. The only reason I don’t use it daily is because I can’t be bothered with keeping cotton pads stocked to use it, I prefer the convenience of the neutrogena wipes.

My mom uses clinique daily and doesn’t like my wipes. If you get used to something that works as well as the clinique, I don’t think you will like anything else. I am less picky, I don’t mind if it takes me a moment to get it all off.

I use Mary Kay eye make-up remover… it works wonderfully!

I think I started a thread about this last fall maybe, but I wasn’t necessarily looking for something waterproof. The brand I had been using stopped being in production so I had to find a new one.

Ema, can you give me more information about the Clinique stuff? I just looked on Amazon and there are half a dozen varieties of Clinique makeup remover!

I’m on a mission to find the perfect eye make-up remover. I haven’t found anything that I really love. Right now, I switch between Chanel Gentle Eye make-up remover and Clairns Instant Eye make-up remover. I’ve tried and rejected the Sephora brand, Bobbi Brown, and also Clinique. I’ve tried drugstore brands like Neutrogena (didn’t like it) and Olay Mascara and Make-up remover (it’s OK, but my local pharmacy doesn’t sell it and I have to order it online). Keep the suggestions coming.

I stopped using waterproof mascara except for funerals and weddings because in my experience, nothing really gets it off without a lot of rubbing, which is annoying, and the residual mascara causes the lashes to get brittle and breakage-prone. I quit using mascara on my lower lashes so it wouldn’t smudge. I use pencil on the lower lashes instead.

I use Cetaphil to remove all makeup and it works great for everything except waterproof mascara.

Clinique ‘Take the Day Off’ and then there are a few more words. I decant from the larger bottle into the travel size that is often distributed with Clinique’s ‘gift with purchase’, as I find that the contents of the larger bottle become a bit murky with use.

I didn’t realize it was $18 but as stated above, it lasts a long time.

The one I like best is Lancome’s Effacil.

Thanks, everyone.

I just use baby oil and have for years. I wear nothing but waterproof mascara for several reasons, and the baby oil takes it off as well as or better than any of the expensive stuff. I apply with my finger, rub it around, and wipe off with a tissue.

I use an Avon product that is a cream so it is easy to apply and I can use a wet cloth to remove it. I love it! Inexpensive too.

Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser. Inexpensive and the best I’ve found. I’ve been using it for decades and my DD (19yo) swears by it too. We buy it by the jug… can only find it online here, so we get a big jar and divvy it up.

I wear make up just about every day and the purple bottle of clinique stuff works great! I’ve had it since January and the bottle is still nearly full. So definitely worth the price!

I just remembered that Tish had a great eye make up remover product suggestion in her book. A-ha, here it is!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0041MKPBW/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?qid=1399957511&sr=8-9&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

Ordered. :)

I second the vote for Lancome’s Bi-Facil.

I wear waterproof mascara, and I use Almay Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover pads. They also have a non-oily version, but I have dry skin and prefer the moisturizing formula. I use it at night; not sure if it was used in the morning it might make a new coat of mascara ‘slip’ a bit. I’ve used it for several years and when I’ve tried any other brand I always return to this.

Another vote for Neutrogena eye makeup remover wipes. You can buy them at Costco very reasonably. They are good for travel, too. I use them to clean my entire face, and they leave it soft and nice.

I like this:
http://www.sephora.com/take-the-day-off-cleansing-balm-P126301?SKUID=886267&om_mmc=ppc-GG&mkwid=FIPaOeoG&pcrid=41451930759&pdv=c&site=us_search&country_switch=us&lang=en
It is expensive but goes a long long way. It takes ALL of my makeup off and leaves my skin soft.
