facebook vanity urls coming out friday night. and they're free!

what do you think your vanity URL will be?

Uhm. Does that mean it will be like MySpace where you have your own url?
I won’t select one. I see no reason too. What a worthless update.

My name. 10char

I don’t think I’ll do it. Kinda pointless, as I’m the only one on facebook with my name

In addition, why would somebody post that on here?

I’ll actually really like this, because my first and last name are just about as common as you can get. There’re like 75 pages of people with my name.

@zap: myspace already has vanity urls.

Vanity URLs are only a method to see who on facebook is a tool. Anyone who is not a tool would either not use a vanity URL or would change it to a slightly different version of their own name.

I’m excited for it.

I have a really common name, too.

I don’t think that I’ll end up taking advantage of the opportunity.

it seems kind of pointless to me.

Yeah, count me out.

the point of it is so that you’re FB profile won’t have an address like “Facebook…” and it would just be like
Redirecting...”

It actually makes sense so that you can direct someone to your profile easily, and it would boost the search results of your name on google to the real you. But there a lot of reasons I can think of that it doesn’t make sense.

If you want one for your name tho, you better be waiting there at 12:01 am on friday cause apparently they’ll go fast.

official countdown: [Login | Facebook](Facebook)

and this article makes more sense out of it:
[You Have Three Days To Pick Your Facebook Vanity URL. Choose Wisely, Or You’re Screwed.](You Have Three Days To Pick Your Facebook Vanity URL. Choose Wisely, Or You're Screwed. | TechCrunch)

I didn’t even know this was happening x)

If you have a really common name I guess being the first one to get it would feel like an honor

why, facebook.

why do you frustrate me so?

Is there a char limit? Having the facebook link
http://www.facebook.com/a

would be pretty cool.

i think it has to be at least 5 characters

blah, ignore

But what Pinkstarcloud said. =)

Probably not going to choose one because I’ll most likely regret it later like my myspace name

This is a terrible idea.
