^^^^That is quite disturbing-more than creepy. I don’t have one and have no plans to purchase it.

Right. They have no possible access to everything you say in your home. Does anyone really believe this?
I didn’t get any email concerning privacy. I read somewhere FB is obliging GDPR only in Europe.
Facebook Gave Some Companies Special Access to Additional Data About Users’ Friends
Sorry it is from FoxNews. Wall Street ran the same story behind the paywall.
You don’t have to apologize for posting a story from Fox Business any more than you would if it came from the Wall Street Journal… :-S Was the content any different?
Is Seattle Times a reliable source for you, dos?

Not questioning the story, @BunsenBurner. Just pointing out why someone might say “sorry it is from FoxNews” because, no, the journalistic integrity is not the same as the WSJ.
The Fox Business story about Facebook came from Dow Jones Newswires. Not everything they report is tainted. The content of both stories was essentially the same.
Alexa in your hotel room, anyone?

We all should have bought facebook stock back around March 28th.
I bet my Vanguard fund manager did.
Speaking of Alexas in hotel rooms… it is time to rethink camping! Cheaper and healthier than staying on the “fifth floor.”
I would miss shower camping tho. Otherwise, I would love it.

About time
I don’t buy cars based on ads and I certainly don’t vote based on what I read in Facebook. Really. Are we all that susceptible to their mind bending powers? It’s not great but just be a consumer of news like we are of anything else.
And it seems the content is pushed based on personal likes and dislikes. So were they not pushing info to people who already thought that way?
Yes, there are folks that have firm opinions. Then there is the “swing voter.” If I am on the fence about picking between a Toyota or Volvo, showing me a disproportionate number of articles on Toyota recalls might swing my mind towards the Volvo…
An even better analogy is Volkswagen. They cheated on emissions information and fooled millions of buyers, becoming the world’s largest automaker in the process.
Cheating pays, I am afraid.
I really hope Amazon acts responsibly,
