Faith in my peers

Up until yesterday, I had at least a little bit of faith in the integrity and common sense of my peers. But two days in a row, the complete idiocy and self-centeredness of the people around me has shattered it completely.

First, on Monday, a girl from my school was kidnapped, and she escaped from the kidnapper 3 hours later and ran home (about three miles). Everybody was talking about it on Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon, we found out that the girl had invented the whole story as an excuse for coming late to the athletic awards ceremony because she was out with friends in Great Neck. She obstructed the law just to lie to her parents.

Then today, I arrive at school to find that as a senior prank, somebody let the air out of all of the district’s buses’ tires. This meant that the high school, middle school, elementary schools, and kindergarten would have no busing for the morning. Somebody really missed the boat on the whole “senior prank” concept. They may as well have shot the principal in the foot as a prank.

Then after school, a bunch of Juniors ghost-rode the school parking lot and the whole town. Nothing happened, but ghost riding has to be the most imbecilic thing to possibly do. And these are my friends. bangs head on desk

I just can’t believe the idiocy of some people in my town. These past few years, my school has had such bad press for embezzlement, rape, and drugs, and it never seems to stop.

What is ghost riding?

Have you done anything about this? You obviously don’t like what’s going on. So, what have you done?

yea, that kinda sucks. i wouldn’t be that mad about the bus thing… i think that’s kinda funny. maybe you should just get some new friends.

ghost ridings when you stick yourself out of the car and no ones at the wheel

i like ghost riding.

you’re mighty cynical for someone so young…

wow…well, I’m also from LI (Great Neck reference, anyone?) but yeah, I have no faith in my peers, either.

Haha, ghost riding. A friend of mine almost crashed his van into a house doing it. And another time he got in major trouble for doing it in the parking lot.

It’s when you crank up the hip hop and then get out of the car and dance around. You get back in to make sure it doesn’t hit anything, but it’s super stupid and dangerous. =P

Yeah, well, way to be anonymous, AnonPerson1.

eh, we smart people have to stick together-anon or not. Plus, I’ve already posted about a billion times about regents exams, etc, so…
