FALL 2014 Guaranteed/ Conditional Transfers

gobigred44 I just requested housing, and I requested to be in the west campus housing system. My brother went to Cornell, and he said that it was the best option.

Hi everyone! So I haven’t gotten an actual email yet, but I used this link and got this page with my full name at the top in exclamation points:
(and then…)
Link:
https://transeval.cals.cornell.edu/</a>

Your Major: Biological Sciences

If you have any questions regarding the major you were accepted to, please contact CALS Admissions by email at cals_admissions@cornell.edu or by phone at 607.255.7688.

The Courses you have taken at your previous institution(s) have been evaluated carefully within the context of a CALS Degree. The link below will direct you to your preliminary credit evaluation. Course work currently in progress has not been evaluated. Once a final transcript is received indicating grades of C or better, the course work is eligible for further evaluation into the CALS Distribution requirements.

Your preliminary credit evaluation evaluates your college degree requirements (not your major requirements). A course can be applied to only 1 distribution requirement. Courses that are listed can be used to fulfill both Major requirements and College graduation requirements. If you are concerned about how your course work will transfer towards your major requirements you need to consult with your department advising coordinator. If you have questions after reviewing your credit evaluation, please feel free to email cals-studentservices@cornell.edu.

College credit earned while in high school (this includes all credits earned prior to earning a high school diploma or equivalent) will need further documentation before they can be accepted. Your credit award will be finalized upon your enrollment in CALS and receipt of your final transcript. You must receive grades of C or better for all your courses to be eligible for transfer into CALS.

If you have AP credit, you must send an official copy of your AP score report to Cornell for the credits to be awarded to your record. AP Credits will not appear on your preliminary credit evaluation, however you can view our AP chart to see what scores may earn you credit.

You are allowed to transfer a maximum of 60 credits.

Transfer Credit Evaluation

******(And this was in yellow at bottom):

CALS Student Services has received notice of your acceptance, but your transfer credit evaluation is not yet complete. Please check back in a day or two. Thanks for your patience!

Is this the page any of you who were officially accepted get when you use this link?

Thanks!

@concerto95 That seems too good to be true. Hmm… I wonder what that page looks like for regular transfers.

@FindmeFazo From a regular transfer - There is no major listed and at the bottom in yellow it reads: “Our records do not show you as an accepted student in CALS.”

@william95 yaaaaasss… And ah what a coincidence you checked up on us TO’s, thanks for looking that up for us. Hope ta see you on campus this fall!

I know…It is kind of odd. But it looks like an official document. I had to log in with app ID and password to view it. I guess ill just have to wait and see.

@cocenrto95 yaaaaassss… haha but what now? I feel like I ruined a surprise that wasn’t really a surprise in the first place (but what an awesome and genuine surprise to be officially rejected though, huh?). Gg for TO’s, can’t complain though…

@FindmeFazo ???

@concerto95 nevermind me, I got the same message as you ^^

@FindmeFazo Gotta do something to keep myself from going insane waiting :stuck_out_tongue: thanks though!

Does anyone know if the quads have their own bathrooms?

@concerto95 Just an update, my credit transfer thing was actually completed and now I can see which of my classes can transfer over to Cornell.

Hi again everyone! I have another quick question regarding our final high school transcripts…If I were to drop a class (AP Computer Science) now with a W, would that have a negative impact on my GT status? We have a huge final project to do in there that covers a lot of material our teacher hasn’t gotten to yet. Many kids in my class just outsourced it to freelancers or other students but I tried to be honest and attempt it myself…Well! It’s not going that great and it’s due soon–I’m worried that my project will appear really mediocre amongst everyone else’s and I’ll receive a poor grade on the project (which would effectively torpedo my final grade in the class). That’s why I want to get out ASAP because then I’ll be able to say that at the time of dropping it I still had a B.

If I do drop/withdraw, I’ll still be taking 6 other AP’s. I plan on emailing the admissions office about this tomorrow morning, but I just wanted to get some input beforehand. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of situation? Thanks so much!

Also, I hope all of you have heard back by now! It’s definitely an arduous process, but the wait was worth it, wasn’t it?

@Coriander23‌ I cannot comment on this with certainty, but the GT does say you must complete your high school courses. I am assuming this implies that you need to finish out the classes that you are taking without failing/a withdraw. You should talk to an admissions rep about this ASAP.

FYI: last Monday the acceptance email came about 2:30ish…good luck to all!!!

@Shap95‌ - Okay, thanks for your input! Yeah, I do remember reading about that…Just in case, I’ve contacted my first-year school and they are fine with me dropping the course–since I still have a couple weeks before the drop-for-a-W deadline, I might try to see how I do on my project. Objectively, I’ve fulfilled all the requirements but subjectively my project looks really simple compared
to everyone else’s. I’ll ask one of the Cornell adcoms later on as well. Thanks!!

@Coriander23‌ maybe talk to your high school teacher about your anxieties about your project and explain the GT. Maybe she can help you with your project?

Well didn’t get anything today, but I can now select housing!

and now I cant???

Err, some regular transfers are starting to hear back by mail. Interesting…
