If you don’t have 30 hours you wont find out the same time fall/summer applicants find out.

@dontdoooit What do you mean on a rolling basis? I thought UT didn’t do Rolling admissions. Now I am scared, I applied at the very last minute. 8-X

@rice00princess rolling basis not rolling admission. In other words, i think they probably do a cluster at a time.

I heard in previous posts that the longer you have been in review the higher the chance you will be accepted. I applied at the last minute, too. I’ve been in review since early March. I doubt applying at the last minute has any effect on your admission decision.

@dontdoooit @jjyoon36 I have less than 30 hours and I’ve already gotten admitted.

That is what admissions told me.

@RedEyeJedi I called First Year Experience department and all students do take UGS first-year signature courses. I was hoping there was an exemption but it doesn’t seem like there is. The concept seems interesting, I just thought I had a full schedule already for next year with out the UGS course lol

@DeeGeeErbear I know I’m a little ahead of myself right now, but how do admitted transfer applicants handle their schedule? At the summer transfer orientation? Do we usually get the last pick in classes??

Anyone heard back today…? CNS…? COLA…?

I heard back from COLA today and was rejected. I am working on my appeal now because I truly believe that a mistake was made with my cumulative GPA because of credits incorrectly transferred from my California school. I’ve contacted admissions and they seemed to confirm that my transcript was not appearing as it should from that school. I’m going to meet with an admissions counselor at UT tomorrow to see what they are looking for in an appeal specifically so that I can make the strongest case. I can update y’all on that if anyone is interested. Sad to have been rejected, but hopeful that I actually have a legitimate appeal!

@carissadea Good luck on your appeal. I had to fight with UH for two months after they made a similar mistake entering my credits. I kept telling the admissions people that the credit hours were incorrect, finally I spoke with an adviser and they looked at my transfer report and found they had not entered in all of my science credits and for PetroE that is automatic rejection. I was later able to get in. It happens though and is very hard on a student. Good luck to you and keep on fighting.

@carissadean what were your stats that got you rejected and what were the the stats that were correct? Also, what major in cola?

@golfing7861 I didn’t know that was possible. Im almost 100% sure you have to have 30 or more credit hours for them to review your application. In fact, I just received a reminder email from UT today.

Dear Junha:
According to MyStatus, your 2014 summer/fall transfer application is complete. However, the UT Austin Office of Admissions cannot make your admission decision until we receive a final transcript showing your completed spring 2014 coursework.
Your transcript must arrive no later than June 2, 2014, but we encourage you to get your transcript to us as soon as possible after spring grades are posted. We’ll review your application only after your transcript arrives, and then it’ll take at least a couple of weeks to make and deliver your decision.
Here are some dates to keep in mind:

@jjyoon36 I have no idea, I’ve only had 16 hours on a college campus. I have AP credits that would put me well over the 30 mark, however I’m fairly certain those wouldn’t apply. Besides that I have no idea. I really hope they didn’t mess up and put me in, only to take me out later…

@jjyoon36 how many hours do you have?

Does anyone know what would happen if there is a Withdrawal on your transcript AFTER being accepted to UT?Could the admission offer be rescinded just on that?

Are they posting decisions throughout the day or only after 5 30?

@golfing7861 AP credits certainly do count! Congrats!

@txgirl9457 My stats are kind of complicated because I attended a community college in CA from 2008-2010. I didn’t do so well and had about a 2.5 GPA there. It was a mixture of really good grades and really poor grades. I took some time off from school and have attended another community college from 2013 to present. At this college I’ve completed 41 credits with a 3.68 GPA. Unfortunately, the cumulative between the two colleges is low because of my grades from the first CC. However, I applied for Academic Renewal (I think in Texas you call it “Academic Forgiveness”) and had those grades removed from my GPA as they are all at least from 2010 or older. I resubmitted my transcript to UT and I think this is where my GPA was incorrectly calculated using the first transcript I submitted. My current transcript from that school has a 3.4 GPA with the bad grades removed. That combined with my 3.68 should have given me a competitive GPA for COLA. I applied for Linguistics and Anthropology.

Other than that, I had 2 letters of rec and 3 essays (of which 2 were very strong and 1 was good but maybe a little stiff.) My resume included my 50 hours of work per week to pay for school on my own, Phi Theta Kappa, Honors college, some volunteer work at an archaeological dig, and some published work (not major specific, just literary). I think I had a very strong application and that my wrongly evaluated cumulative GPA crushed it :(

@Golfing7861 Actually, AP/IB credits do count towards the 30+ transferable credit hours they ask for. My transcript only shows 15 credits from the Fall 2013 courses I took plus a lot of AP/IB credits and the UT Admissions office has my application status as “Complete.”
