Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@txgirl9457‌ @Alexanderz‌ thanks guys, I definitely thought AP credits wouldn’t apply, but am I glad to be wrong in this case lol.

@Jwood12 I have 16 credit hours right now, and will have 31 after this semester ends. @golfing7861 I think I know what happened. Your AP credits put you over the 30 hour mark at the time of application.

Oops, didnt read the later posts. Sorry to beat a dead horse lol

@goathammer Thanks for your reply. It made me feel a little better. I do feel that I have a application that is special circumstances and warrants an appeal, but I’ve also heard appeals are rarely successful. So if I don’t get in on appeal, I will consider it as a “not meant to be” thing. Congratz on your successful appeal though! That’s awesome and gives me hope! :)

Is myStatus down for anybody else? All I see when I log in is the message “We are unable to check the status of your application for admission. Please contact the Office of Admissions at 512-475-7387.”

Edit: It seems to be up again now, unfortunately my application is still under review. CNS

So all Fall admission decisions should be out by the end of this week right? assuming one has 30+ hours.

I looked at my status and it hasn’t changed one bit since like I can’t remember when. The longer it takes, the more nervous I feel.

@baylorgal123‌ when you appealed for the spring did you submit any documents??

@whitesox14 The way I understood it from admissions today, yes.

@DanielKim3‌ Unfortunately, I think transfer do get last pick as far as classes go :frowning: I’ve heard they open up spots every orientation, but classes fill up within seconds. All transfers are registering after everyone else at the university though.

@dontdoooit‌ What I thought, thank you.

I just got accepted!

However it is for my 2nd Choice - History, my first was RTV.

It does say that I can only change my major once, but if I try to change my major to just Communications, then do I lose my spot if I get denied?

I wanted to get my BA in RTV with a minor in History and Education. I have also been given a full ride to Texas A&M Commerce, and would be able to pursue a BA in Radio and Television. I don’t know what to do…but I am super excited!

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

@DanielKim3‌ yes admitted transfer students are advised at summer orientation and then that lifts an advisory bar to register. They are the last to register and selecting classes is extremely limited. You’re only left with waitlists and unwanted teachers. Most people took advantage of add/drop period and managed to get ok schedules. I had a really bad schedule, and ended up dropping a 6 hr Latin course and pursued part time 6 hrs my first semester. it sucks but I was just happy to be there!

OMG OMG OMG aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…I AM IN. I GOT INTO COLA PHILOSOPHY which is my second choice of major. Didn’t get into CNS but who cares. I got into UT AUSTIN. I am soooooooo happy. I can’t believe this. My hands are shaking as I am typing this down. \m/

@mjeter20‌ Congrats buddy.
Good luck to those who are waiting. Don’t lose faith. If it makes you guys feel better, I have been waiting three years to get into UT. That’s right three years.

My Stats:

GPA was somewhere around 3.7.
Wrote all three essays; If I could, I would grade them as follows. I thought they were decent and the lady that peer reviewed them also said she thought they were good, but i am a harsh grader.
Essay A (SOP)–C/ B-/B
Essay B (Issue of Importance)–C+/B
Essay C (Special Circumstances) B+/A-
1 LOR from my English professor at Texas State
58 Credits
Lots of Extracurriculars

@rice00princess if you get admitted to your second college of choice does that mean you’re automatically rejected for your first? did they tell you you were rejected to CNS?

I’m still under review :/.
@rice00princess how much math did you apply with when applying into CNS?

JUST GOT ACCEPTED!!! Got into my second choice, COLA undecided! I’m so happy!
:)

STATS:
3.75 GPA, pre-cal as my highest math (which is probably why I was rejected from CNS)

I’ve got decisions to make now! I was accepted into TAMU, UH, and UT. Gotta see how financial aid will go and hopefully have a decision by the end of the month!

CONGRATS EVERYONE!!! :):)

I was just admitted (within the last few hours) to the summer session for COLA- Anthropology (my 1st choice). Here are my stats & story:

Transferring from Blinn College- Bryan campus
GPA : 3.4
1 LOR from my archaeology field school director - Professor/doctor from Texas Tech
2 essays - my statement of purpose was really good, my other essay was mediocre at best
Resume was good- lots of work exp. with team leadership exp./working for major clients
No volunteer work or ECs whatsoever
I had dropped 3 courses, too. I retook them and got As
Also, I am a non-traditional student (I’m 44) and I went under the Texas Fresh Start program. I attended junior college many years back (early 90s) and received a few Fs and about 8 dropped classes which were wiped from my record. Texas Fresh Start for the win!
