Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

From what I’ve heard from people that I know who have internally transferred its not the hard. You just need to keep up the grades for it and i think they said they wrote an essay or something! If you were accepted into UGS I think you should go for it!

@‌danichus

If you got accepted into UT Austin, typically with your scenario you should give it a go… UT is the best all around higher education institution in the state of Texas no matter what anyone says. It is a lot easier to internally transfer to a school of your choice rather than externally transfer. With your stats, I see that you are a determined, focused scholar. Not taking this chance is with haunt you later on if you don’t take it. Go for it

Anybody hear from Cockrell yet?

Anyone going to the 6/27-28 orientation? Are y’all staying overnight or arranged other places to stay?

I’m still not 100 % sure if I should go! I got into UH business school but UT’s COLA undecided. I want to transfer internally to the CNS for Public Health…I was rejected because I don’t have calculus, I’m scared to take calculus at UT but I guess I’m doing it.

UT is the better choice right? Especially once I’m in my major? It’s been my dream school.

@lovechifkila you could take calculus at the local CC over the summer if you’re that scared to take it at UT

@chuck616 I’ll be volunteering abroad this summer and my CC I’m currently at doesn’t offer Calculus in a mini mester session.

I could check other CC’s here and take a class there.

I’ve started an appeal asking to be considered for COLA (undecided). Thanks everybody who gave advice.

Hey @lovechickfila Colleg House just send me the application for Halstead, have you receive your in Pearl?

I received mine for the Taos and Laurel houses! Unfortunately Pearl was my first choice but they didn’t send me a contract.

I’m not 100 % sure if I want to go to the co ops right now, I actually found a roommate and I’m driving up this Saturday to look for apartments.

@foafoa Are you going to sign with Halstead?

For all of these people who are getting rejected by CNS, what major are you applying for? I’m still in review for Cockrell for EE and CNS for Applied Mathematics.

I applied to Nutrition and got rejected. ^ @therealztee

@lovechickfila I would love to live in Laurel because it’s in the new super co-op and also I heard there are plenty international students living inside. But since they didn’t send me the contract, I guess I would live in Halstead.

ALSO don’t forget that some majors are more full than others. Computer science is the most popular major in CNS, and if they have less spots to fill, they’re going to be super picky about who gets accepted. Holistic review does NOT always guarantee a high GPA a spot at UT Austin. I strongly advise rejected students to write an appeal for COLA Undeclared because it’s looking like UGS has upped their standards based on space left from the 2014 freshmen class. Good luck guys, don’t give up! UT is worth it, I promise.

Is biology at CNS competitive? I’m surprised I haven’t been rejected yet because my GPA is not even close to being competitive.

Do you guys think there is anything wrong with getting another letter of rec in two weeks? (Im a Under 30 hours applicant). Like does it look bad in any way that the letter of rec is getting sent so late?

@lovechickfila‌ yeah I’ll be at orientation then!!! I plan on staying on campus you get to know more people that way, or so I think.

Ahh we should meet! I’m still debating on if I should stay on campus! My boyfriend lives in Austin so I have a place to stay but I don’t want to miss out on making friends. @Paguy8

@lovechickfila‌ If I’m able to attend the 6/27-28 orientation, I’ll be staying on campus!

Yeah totally @lovechickfila‌! Honestly, from what I have heard about what we are doing at orientation I feel like it would suck to drive like 3 blocks away haha. Our day starts early and it goes all day long and we actually have to do some work but I don’t have a girlfriend in Austin so I’m kinda bias haha

Hmm then I should stay the night too, I have no idea what goes on but if I have to be on campus early it’d be better to just sleep there I guess. I’ll have plenty of time to be with my bf next semester hahaha.

Do you have any idea of what the schedule is like?
