Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

my application had been in review for about 2 weeks but it just changed back to only saying that my application is complete… does this mean something?

@lizell123‌
Ypu have a great chance. Just buy your ut accessories I see burnt orange in your future.

Admitted into UGS :D. First choice was mechanical engineering, but who cares UT!!!

@damnlol1 Congrats! If you don’t mind me asking, what was your GPA? And did you have Calc II credit along with Engineering Physics I & II credit?

I have just been notified that I was denied admission into the school. Here is my situation…

When I first applied for admission for the Fall 2014 Semester, I applied to COLA Economics and COLA Undeclared with a 3.42 Cumulative Transfer GPA, I had 30+ hours before I applied also. This past semester I made a 3.8 GPA and it brought my Cumulative Transfer GPA up to a 3.50 … I sent my spring transcript via electronically to UT while my application was still in admission. Idk if they got the transcript or not while considering my application, but I believe that 3.8 this past semester would have brought me through the finish line if they even looked at it. I wrote 2 damn good essays, 2 great LORS, and great extra curricular activities… What are my options going forward in regards to appealing the decision, because I do not see an appeal option on the mystatus UT EID page.

Can anyone help me???
@DeeGeeErbear‌

Thanks

I am on the Appeals page right now, what are my options in regards to the multiple choice questions that shows the admissions office that my most current (Spring 2013) transcript boosts my cumulative GPA up IF they still haven’t seen it, also showing a positive trend… 3.25 3.6 3.8 3.8

Thanks

Can anybody chance me on whether or not I can win the appeal and be admitted to the University? I have just recently accepted an Internship position in the Economics field which I believe may help in my appeals application.

@ElectricFlux‌ I did have my cal 2 credit but not engineering physics 2. My GPA was a 3.72

My application is still in review. I have been waiting for more than 2 weeks… hopefully this is not a bad thing.

I just got admitted into the school of UGS!!! My status said it was complete expect for the 30 hours for about a month until yesterday, then it said it was under review. Today I was admitted!!! :slight_smile: I came from the Lonestar College System with a 3.8 GPA. I didn’t have any loc’s and my essays were okay. I have a pretty good resume, I held a lot of leadership roles in high school and this past semester I interned at a law firm.

Hi can y’all review me?

-I am a freshman transfer applicant (sophomore going into fall 2014) at UT Arlington
-my cumulative gpa is 3.58 (fall gpa was a 3.4 with 14 hours and spring was a 3.76 with 17 hours)
-I applied to the CoLA as a History major first then Government major for my second choice
-I am currently a history major at UT Arlington
-For extra curriculars I am in choir at UTA and I also put down that I help run my cousin’s charity for brain cancer research on my resume (there were many more in high school such as theater, key club, a job, TFME, etc.)
-I didn’t get any letters of recommendation because UTA is a large school (2nd largest UT system school) and I didn’t get to know my professors

It has said that my transcripts need to be reviewed for the 30 credit hours (it says that they’re in under the ‘done’ tab at the bottom) for the past 3 1/2 weeks and I’m getting really anxious about it because they’re taking so long to process it and make a decision.

oh and a P.S. my essays were pretty good I went to the writing center here at UTA and I had multiple people read over them and critique them for me.

also my status page is showing “incomplete” because of them taking a long time to process my transcripts, so will my status change to “in review” like y’all have been talking about after they see that I have over 30 hours of transferable course work?

@utgirl14‌ @damnlol1
Congratulations! I was wondering if you had UGS as your second choice or if they offered to you as a “third choice”? I am currently under review and I would like to know if they only offer UGS to those who put that as their second choice or if they potentially offer it even if they deny both your first and second choices. I am trying to transfer into the school of education but for second choice I put down social work just because it seemed more relevant than some of the other choices. (My courses and resume reflect that I genuinely am on the path to become a teacher). Would it be wise to change it to UGS for a better chance?

@Elena94
I chose UGS as my first major and computer science as my second. I haven’t taken calculus yet so I couldn’t transfer straight into computer science. I’m hoping to do an internal transfer next year.

Congrats to those of you who’ve gotten accepted lately, so excited for the fall!

OMG! I’m very very excited about my decision. admitted or rejected. Like I said my GPA is NOT NOT NOT high at all. I’m expecting to be rejected but I’m sure I can get in Next Spring right? If I qualify for the Automatic Decision.(which I’m sure I will by after this Fall Sem. Top 6% in High School and all cc requirements will be completed.)
Can Anyone tell me if I can re-apply for Spring 2015 after being Rejected??
@DanielKim3‌, I really don’t know anything about the appeal thing, but I don’t see any reasons why not to try? I say GO for it!

@danielkim I am not all that familiar with the appeals process. I know that you can send them into admissions just like how you sent your resume/letters of recs. There should be a deadline, otherwise I advise that you try and schedule an interview of some sort. I think it would be best if you call and ask just to make sure!

Hey guys! Congrats to all those who are accepted! I was rejected today, going to post my stats here in case ya’ll want to see:
Applied to: COLA undeclared
3.3 GPA from liberal arts college, Honors program
Very strong resume: Eagle Scout, 200+ service hours, National Honor Society. Involved in extracurriculars throughout high school including several music groups and track team
Both essays EXTREMELY strong
1 recommendation
The weakest part here and probably the main reason for my rejection is the GPA. I was told a 3.5 or higher will guarantee admission into COLA. I plan to reapply so please correct me if this isn’t true. Good luck!

I submitted my appeal a couple of hours ago… I petitioned to the admissions committee to look at my new transfer GPA which has been lifted to a 3.50 from a 3.42 from the past semester. I reached the Deans List again and have been offered an internship similar to my major I applied for (I attached the offer letter to my petition).

Fingers crossed

How many people are still waiting for decision? I applied to Cockrell and COLA.
