Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@Danielkim3 hopefully you can get in. I think you have good GPA and good resume.

Still waiting. In review 16 days. Applied to RTF and COLA. The good news is the wait is bound to end soon.

I submitted my appeal yesterday, I’m just waiting for my transcript to get there for my maymaster course  My GPA will go from a 3.5 to a 3.6. I was only rejected because I had to drop a class because of medical issues and it put me at 27 hours, so after this class I will be at 30! Hopefully I get in!!

Sigh i am starting to get a little discouraged because my application has been in review since May 20th and still no no word from UT. I have a 4.0 with 33 hours and 2 letters of recommendation with not bad essays, i just thought i was pretty qualified for the school of social work or COLA but its discouraging to not know anything yet. Hopefully they will tell me soon!!

I hope you guys appeal are successful. Please post in the official appeals group so kids next year can have hope about the appeals system

@pewpew13‌ social work takes awhile! Don’t be discouraged! Social work rolled out decisions the same time as Communications last year, and my friend with a 4.0 didn’t get accepted in Communication until mid June with me! Expect something next week for sure or the following Monday :)

I believe I was accepted June 12, 2013

This wait is killing me, guys!

Hey you guys have nothing on me… I’ve been in review since the second week of March… Haha

Just to make those impatient for wait. I know how you feel. I waited from August all the way to May for a response. Almost ripped my eyes out but wait was worth it

I have been reading this thread for months, but finally decided to make an account today because this suspense is killing me! So I am currently a female Active Duty Air Force member and will be a veteran if I attend the school in Fall 2014. I have 30-33 credit hours (not sure which classes they took, but I know it was enough) all from an online school. I’m not sure how that affects the outcome of admission, but I was pretty much forced to go online because of my military commitments/deployments. Also, an OOS (Florida) resident as well. My GPA is 3.4 or 3.6 depending on what they took for my completed classes. I have an amazing resume, 2 pretty good essays, and 1 LOR that directly addresses dealing with a stressful situation related directly to the field of study I applied for. I applied for COLA Psychology and then Social Work as my 2nd choice. I don’t know how much emphasis is placed on the resume, but that is definitely the strongest point of my package. I applied in January/Feb, had to take Spring classes to get enough hours (4.0 GPA for those 10 credits), sent my final transcript on May 8th, went into review on May 9th and I am still here waiting checking MyStatus about 50 times a day. I also check this thread frequently to see how others are doing. I will post as soon as I find out about my acceptance/rejection. Best of luck to you all!

Has anyone gotten their housing contract yet? I’ve been waiting about 5 weeks now…

Hey guys, so I just got accepted to Cockrell for Petroleum Engr. I applied with exactly 30 hours. A’s in all of my classes I took. Here are my stats:
-GPA: 4.0
-First choice: Petroleum Engineering. Second: Mechanical Engineering
-EC’s:
High School-
Ace Mentor (2012 - 2013) : Intern
Clubs:
Mu Alpha Theta
American Red Cross
Youth Expanding Services Club
School Robotics Team (2009 - 2011)
Community service: 243 total hours in ONLY high school.

College-
Clubs:
Geology Club
Math Club
Science Club
Internship:
Ace Mentor Program(Intern)
Volunteer hrs- 50 hours only in college.

Essays: 3 very well written essays. 2 of them are about my passion for engineering and the last one is about nuclear development in the world.

Rec Letters: Got 2 rec letters. One from my Hist Prof and the other from my Calc 2 Prof

My application went in review on May 21st, and I got a decision at 3pm today.
Good luck to everyone waiting, keep praying and everything will work out in your favor.

@Golfing7861 - I spoke to housing yesterday. They are still sorting out the incoming Freshman spots as of now. They will send transfer contracts in July.

Just got rejected today :(

Stats that I applied with:
First choice: Computer Science; Second choice: Computer engineering
3.934 GPA with 45 hours from UT Dallas
Few ECs (mostly from high school)
1 outstanding letter of recommendation
Three ~8/10 essays

I’m going to try to appeal my rejection, but still, I never got anything lower than an A- and I was still rejected. Can’t believe how hard it is to get in these days.

@txforever‌ but aren’t the housing preferences due before July 1st? If so, then how can we make the deadline on time if we aren’t even offered contracts before that.

I’ve also been checking on this thread for months, but seeing all these rejections is making me really nervous. Anyway, I guess I’ll post my stats and update you guys on what happens?
-GPA: 3.844, in-state university
-First Choice: Nursing
-Second Choice: COLA (BS-Psychology)
-ECs: About three from high school, and about five or six from college, including two honor fraternities/societies.
-(Honors/awards?: A good amount from high school, dean’s list from first year in college)
-Community Service: About 80-100 hours from high school and college (got many more afterwards, but I don’t think I could have included planned volunteer work, set past the March 1st deadline)
-Letters of Recommendation: Couldn’t get any in time
-Essays: Three pretty good essays that I spent a lot of time on.
-(Other: I don’t think it’ll really do anything, but to make myself appear more well-rounded and dedicated I also included some of my best digital art and photos at the end of the resume, mentioning that I’ve spent a very long time improving myself and my work, and that I was entirely self-taught.)
-Went into review last Friday, May 30th.

Well, good luck to all of us! I hope the admissions and appeals process goes well for everyone.

@Golfing7861 you’re right, its the deadline for housing and roomate preferences, so I want to say that it has to be this month with the last week of june being the latest. When I contacted them they said June for sure, and not to worry about not having a spot. Really wish it wasn’t a waiting game like it was with admissions, but I understand. Do you have a dorm preference?

@Savetherocks‌ wow I can’t believe that you got rejected with that high GPA at UTD… which also has -,+ grading system… I’m sure they will let you in though if you appeal your rejection.

I have been rejected but had a question regarding the appeal process. Here are my credentials:

GPA: 3.967

 • Honors College at Texas Tech University
 • 41 hours credit (following UT engineering degree plan)
 • Inducted into 2 honors clubs
 • Society of Petroleum Engineers member
 • etc…

I applied for PE first and ME as second choice.

My question is would it be worth my time to appeal? Since I submitted my application, I have been inducted into an honors fraternity and I am taking 2 core curriculum courses this summer: Calculus 3 and Early American Literature (these were not considered for admission)

Let me know if it would be worth my time because I plan on sending in an appeal tomorrow.

Thanks and good luck to all.
