Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@damnlol1‌ I heard you need to get at least 3.5-3.6 at UT to transfer to Cockrell.
Here is the information <a href=“Undergraduate Admissions”>Undergraduate Admissions;

Should I not even bother applying? Realistically the highest I can raise my GPA before applying to transfer is a 3.72. This is depressing. I never though it would be a sure thing transferring but I thought I had a decent chance. besides raising my GPA. Is there anything I can do to make myself more competitive

I know I’m getting really nervous because it seems that people put the COLA as their fall back and are taking all of the spots, leaving no room for a person who actually wants to major in history, economics, or government…

@PaulWall‌ I still think you should apply! I base my chances off what I have observed from these threads in the past year. So basically, these chances are based off this thread and additional information released from the university. You could miss out on a great opportunity if you were to not apply at all!

@PaulWall My daughter just got in as a transfer into COLA with a 3.63 GPA. She had strong essays and impressive LOR’s from people who know her well. COLA isn’t a fallback for her…it’s what she really wanted. She got a quick reply once they received proof of her 30 hours. Definitely apply…what’s the harm?

@txforever Do you mind sharing what major she applied to?

Thanks

Thanks for the info!

@keired thank you again for the information. wow I thought Jester was one of the larger dorms on campus and if it’s already full then I wonder what that bodes for those of us still waiting.

@rangers32 haha exactly, anything will do when it comes down to it. I just don’t want to begin looking into things when it’s too late.

@DanielKim3‌ She was an English major in COLA.

Has anyone received any decisions recently?

Fyi…my daughter was admitted one week ago and received a housing contract today.

@txforever when did your daughter apply for housing?

@rangers32 She applied for housing early February when she turned in her application.

As a transfer will UT look at the GPA on your transcript or recalculate it based only on the classes they accept?

is there any chance for housing for someone who applied for housing late may? guess not…

I was wondering what my odds are of getting accepted?
University: Lamar University
Major: Pre- Social Work
GPA: 3.875 (9 a’s one b)
Hours: 30
Good essays and lengthy resume
On the President’s list.
I’m officially a sophomore.

I also heard the social work school is full of girls, does that make me being a guy have a better chance of getting in? I sent in my final transcript proving 30 hours of course work on may 22, and it has been in review ever since. How competitive are the social work majors?

@saborak they take the gpa of the classes they accept @tg2013 i don’t know much about the social work program but based on your GPa and seeing as you said you have good essays and a detailed resume i think you have a great chance at being accepted

I just got accepted into Nursing!!!
I posted my stats a couple of pages back, but if anyone wants me to post them again, let me know!
And good luck to everyone else, I’m sure you’ll do fine-- I was worrying I wouldn’t get in at all, let alone my first choice!

@rangers32 my friend who applied on 5/9 (exactly one month ago), received his housing contract late last night. However, I still haven’t received mine even though I applied a little bit before him. I hope I get mine before July 1st so I can put down the same roommate preferences as him.

@Golfing7861 I applied a week before that on April 23rd and haven’t gotten a housing contract yet and they are supposedly offered in order of application date. Is he a transfer student too? That’s weird, I hope we weren’t overlooked but if we were we would have gotten a rejection email. I guess the housing contracts are not offered in order of application date?
