Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@lindyk8 congrats to you and your daughter.

@SavageWang @chr1st1 @transfer555 Guess it has to do with the gaps. If I recall correctly I heard within the following week(cleaned out my email I couldn’t find the acceptance email they sent) however I do remember reading about people who got it on the subsequent weekend and some even later than I both from that year and from prior years. I wish you guys the best, I remember the waiting was terrible. Best of luck!

@lindyk8 yea lol I read over the deadline for submitting the igetc certification and other stuffs, and they stated that it is needed by sept 1 (include summer course transcript) lol so it really all works out :stuck_out_tongue: …good information for future transferers tho.

ACCEPTED!!!

Major: Physics
GPA: 3.5ish. too many credits from too many institutions to accurately calculate
IGETC: No
Pre req: Completed two years ago in Florida.
College: Revelle
TAG: No
Applied: UCSD, UCB, UCLA, UCSC, UCSB, UCI
Admitted: UCLA, UCSB, UCSD
Denied: N/A

I hope someone enjoys my spot because I’m going to UCSD.

@Dilligince @SavageWang @chr1st1 @transfer555 I did not do TAP and I had a gap year from HS to CC. the wait is really stressful. :((

@Platocrat congrats on the acceptance! But I did say I don’t think they carry much weight not none at all, especially in comparison to your gpa and courses completed. With a 4.0 gpa and all prerequisites completed, I wouldn’t think the essays mattered as much. In my case, I probably had average essays and I didn’t even have the prequisites completed.

@stephchrista and everyone else that is waiting still! Best of luck to everyone! Good vibes all around

Congrats, everyone! Is anyone else thinking of taking a summer class?

Also, I was accepted when I checked the portal at around 5:20 yesterday. No email yet.

Finally received an email! Not an official acceptance letter but an invitation to Bruin Day!

Apocalypso, I intend to take a couple Summer courses too. Have you checked into what part of our aid (if any) covers Summer courses? I hear it’s only a partial amount. Anyone know how it works for sure?

I think we have to SIR first as well.

Does anybody know how regents is going to be announced? Will they send us an email?
It is still by application even though its after the admission date?

@Dilligince were you accepted?

@fullload, I have no idea. I was going to call them about it sometime next week. It might only be a partial amount, and we do have to SIR first. Some of these classes look really good, though!

Edit: Did a quick Google and found this. Looks like the summer financial aid application deadline is April 30th.

Yeah they do look good. I’m going to do my best to graduate in a year, so I have to take summer classes to get it done.

I got an email 556 PM yesterday then I checked the decision

@chr1st1 Yes (into my alt major) but I’m currently at UCB.

Admitted!

Major: Statistics
GPA: 3.32 at the time I applied, including fall 2014 grades it is 3.38, I switched majors from Biology so I had a lot of C’s from my science classes other than that my major GPA is about 3.75
IGETC: Yes, will be completed by end of this Spring semester
Pre req: Will be completed by the end of this Spring semester
TAG: Yes, with UCD
Applied: UCLA, UCSB, UCR, UCD
Admitted: UCLA, UCSB, UCR, UCD
Denied: NONE

I posted that I was wait listed but never posted my stats, so here they are:

Community College Transfer. I attended Reed College as a Freshman, didn’t like it, and then came home for CC this year (Sophomore) to try and transfer to Cal.

Major: Pre-Psych
GPA: Should be around a 3.75 (3.5 from Reed, 4.0 from Community College) if they use all my submitted Reed classes
IGETC: Yup, done by Spring
Pre-reqs: All done by spring, used APs for the Physics requirement.
TAG/TAP: No
Personal Statements: I think they were strong, especially the accomplishment prompt. My Berkeley rep and CC counselor said the same. In the additional comments section, I expanded on why I left Reed/wanted to transfer to a UC.
ECs: At Reed, I worked ~12 hrs/wk, played Rugby (6-10 hrs/wk), and was in a Leadership club (3 hrs/wk). At CC, I also worked ~12 hrs/wk, but that’s it.
Applied: UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, UCB
Admitted: UCSB, UCSD
Waitlisted: UCLA

Waiting for UCB now. I honestly expected an acceptance from UCLA, so did my counselors. It makes me a little nervous for Cal even though I know I shouldn’t consider it as a bad sign. The only reason I could imagine I was waitlisted is because my Reed GPA brought down my total GPA, but Reed is notorious for incredibly tough grades and I mentioned that in the application. I guess it could be because I didn’t take any college-level Physics of Chemistry. I don’t have any ECs this year either except work, but idk. Any ideas? Should I call admissions and ask just to find out why?
Regardless, congrats to all acceptances!

@fullload that’ll do it, haha. I’m more interested in some of their electives. It’d be a good way to get used to UCLA pacing. Have you decided to SIR?

Yeah, UCLA was my first choice. SIR all the way.
