Hey guys, so I SIR’d to UCLA but can’t find where I’m supposed to accept my loans and financial aid? Anyone know where to do this?

What is SIR?

Also has anyone gotten accepted or denied today yet?

Need Advice!!
UCLA math for teaching VS. UCSD computer science!
Can’t choose either one from them!!

SIR is Statement of Intent to Register. It means you commit to going to that school and you pay a $100 deposit @lakeeshow310

Hey everyone! So happy to report I was accepted! Gender studies major & 3.61 GPA.

I’m so proud and relieved that we all made it through this first round of decisions. My luck and love to everyone going through this process.

But what I really wanted to ask about was peoples financial aid packages… I was offered 22,000 in ‘gift’ aid and then a few miscellaneous loans to cover the last 9,000. What did other people get offered? And does 31,000 sound like a pretty legitimate estimate of how much the year will cost??

@Salmanthgr8 @trnsferstudent I have about half of the prereqs done for Cognitive Science, and I have three professors who got their doctorates in Psychology at UCLA offering to write me letters of recommendation. Do you think that would help? I’m so scared of going and then finding out I can’t switch.

@glondon, I only got 15k in gift aid, another 17 in loans. Boo, one of my worst financial aid offers

@sammycatt it sounds like to me that u may be able to get in! go to the bruin day and ask to speak to an admission representative! also, there are people that were able to change into nonimpacted majors with missing several pre reqs.

Accepted
Major: Business Economics
UC GPA: 3.89 after Fall 2014, 3.9 after Winter 2015
Major GPA: 4.0
Prerequisites: Completed (took the last one during Winter 2015)
IGETC: Will complete by Spring 2015

My dad’s funeral was yesterday. He was a BIG USC fan but I know he would have been proud to support me as a Bruin. Miss you Pops!

@sammycatt I recommend that you go to UCLA on Bruin day or STOMP conference and ask the counselors this question. They can probably tell you more than me. But cognitive science isn’t impacted so I don’t think there will be a problem as long as prereqs are done…

I got into cognitive science missing 3 prereqs

I have a similar question… I’m in cognitive science and I want to switch into a major from the same department ( like psycho biology). Do you think they will allow me to do this? I heard psychobiology is pretty impacted…

@trnsfrstdnt Really? I sure hope so. I’ll definitely do that, thank you for the advice.

@glondon Yay! I’m glad you got in. I too got accepted for gender studies, but plan to change my major if I decide to go. Maybe I’ll be seeing you in a few classes! Also, that seems about right. Did you get Blue and Gold? I’m getting a little over $25,000 in grants and scholarships, and the rest in loans. My estimated cost of attendance is a little over $34,000.

sadly anything impacted is a no

So, “Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units as reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance. Also, if you attended another UC campus in regular session prior to enrollment at UCLA, you must have been in good standing when you left that UC campus. Notify our office immediately of any withdrawals, incomplete grades, drop in academic performance, or other changes to your class schedule.”
What exactly does this mean… If I have a 4.0, do I have to maintain a 4.0 this quarter again?! Why can’t they just explicitly give us a number.

@fullload go to your “admitted student checklist” and the link should be there. Or you can log into your myUCLA.

Guys I have a question, so I’m taking only one class this semester, and I guess I’m gonna get B or C, it is a biological science class with lab, my only missing IGETC. Do I have to get at least B in this class? Or just a passing grade © will be fine ? I already have 2 Cs and what if they cancel my admission if i get another C.

@littlebill I think if you keep above a 3.5 you’ll be fine lol
