Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@fullload i think its because it is a provisional award. You can accept/decline after it is offical

Also, I feel like I should warn you guys who’ve been accepted as pre-economics right now that you’ll have two lower-division classes to complete when you get to UCLA. Those classes are ridiculously difficult, so you all should study a healthy amount for them. People can crash and burn in those weeder classes.

I see that many of you here are majoring in that, so, speaking as someone who knows a few econ majors who transferred here, be careful with Economics 11 and Math 41. Those classes are designed to fail a certain number of people. Don’t let it be you.

I have a friend who was accepted in math/econ; should I warn him about these classes? EDIT: uh I just will

I’m a day late but…
Accepted !
Pre Psychology
Overall GPA: 3.4
Major GPA: 3.8
IGETC: yes
TAG: yes
Major prep: yes
My GPA wasn’t high, but I put in a lot of work and had an excellent personal statement.
Club Rep for campus Psych club. A lot of other volunteer and work experience.

Had very little faith in getting in since my GPA wasn’t even close to the average (3.8) but I just want to show you guys that its really not just based on grades. There is so much more that they consider!

Congrats to everyone accepted, and if not, thats okay. My best friend didn’t get in. Just know that there is something better out there.

@SoCalXoXo off the top of my head it’s hard to imagine how any human being could realistically do that workload. Are there even that many hours in the week? I don’t know, maybe they could. The UCs do most definitely calculate up the EC hours. As an admissions officer I might think it seems excessive. Or I might think this person has no life. They do look for well-rounded people.

I’m assuming you mean a year ago January and not just the last semester. So heavy courseload anyway as it’s a year and a half instead of two.
In addition:
Full time work as a therapist for the last 18 months.
Part time work in a salon for a year
Volunteered in ER
Volunteered tutoring
Transportation time
Homework time

I’m just being honest. I was kind of like whoa! when I read it.

@SoCalXoXo UCLA looks for consistency and your emphasis when they consider your ECs. Honestly, I think the quantity(way too many) of your ECs hurts you in some way. but have you completed all/most of your major required courses?

Would anyone on here know a thing or two about the housing? I’m trying to figure it all out.

@NDN: No I am not. A little upset but I kind of saw it coming. My GPA wasn’t competitive enough for business major.
I picked communication studies as my alt and did really well at school. But who knows? UCLA may not be where I am destined to be.

HELP!!! I just sent in my SIR and I accidentally put the email that I currently use at my CC and I didn’t put in my new UCLA email address! Im kicking myself so hard rn. Is there any way I can change my official email they now have on file to my new @ucla one?!? I don’t want my CC looming over me for the rest of my days thats for sure. I tried looking through myUCLA but theres no where to change it! There should be because what if my email got hacked or something, there has to be a way to change where the emails are sent? @Clayton @fullload @luckie1367 @lindyk8

I know there’s a way to change it…

You do? Any ideas? Ive tried everything haha emailed the help desk and everything… ugh I’m so mad at myself haha I was too excited to submit the SIR i just by habit put my old gmail haha

@lindyk8

So, I am in a MAJOR dilemma!

I got accepted into UCLA as a Pre-MATH/ECON major; however, I wish to change majors into Electrical Engineering. Based on my stats and courses, do you think they will let me change my major to an impacted electrical engineering one?

Below are my stats:

ONE YEAR CCC TRANSFER STUDENT

UC GPA: 4.00 (both major and overall)

MAJOR: mathematics/economics
PREREQS: Completed

MAJOR: Electrical Engineering
PREREQS: MISSING ONLY ONE PHYSICS COURSE (UCLA 1C)
(Remaining pre-requisites have all been fulfilled)

How accurate are fin. aid estimates? We’ve already gotten all our taxes done, so I imagine it should be reliable, right?

@kikessgun Thanks, I actually never received email but it was through the UCLA Application Portal. From there they have sent 2 emails regarding bruin day and financial aid

I noticed that some people say they got an email before checking portal. It makes me super nervou.

@lindyk8 Yeah I understand what you mean! I really appreciate your input, honestly. I would hope that if they had questioned my EC they would have asked me, considering I have proof of all  Thanks again so much!

@UCLAzzw Yes all pre reqs are completed. I am unsure what I could have done differently. Thanks for the input.

I dont know how to.@ ppl on my phone. shame on me.

How do you find out your ucla email address? Do you have to submit your SIR?
