Wait, you really can’t get parking if you live on campus? I suppose I know what to do with my car then…
Anybody receive calls from UCLA? I just got a call from a “first year student” congratulating me and asking me what my chances of attending UCLA, where it ranks in my options. But then the call dropped, so I don’t know what further questions she wanted to ask.
On the Facebook page of UCLA transfer students, I saw La Raza Club/Organization (if I remember correctly) state that they need current students or alumnus to call admitted students and etc. lol as I was typing this they called me, but I’m in the library.
@anikom15
Most people ditch their cars while they live on campus. Or you can try to rent a parking spot from someone who lives off campus but close to campus.
@Malzahar I never lived on campus, so I’m not familiar with the process. Sorry.
So, I just reported a change to UCLA. I’ve already fulfilled all my requirements to be admitted- 60 units, major preparatory classes. Except, the reported change I made was a W from a 5 unit class; this class is not required, however. I reported that I was involved with a time consuming side project, which ultimately made me decide to drop the class in fear of performing 2 mediocre jobs. My main question is- the email I received after told me the school would review my overall application over the next 15 days and would send either a notice of admittance still, a revised admission contract, or rescind me. Does anyone know any stories of people reporting changes and something bad happen?
I’m in the same boat as @veriLey and would love to hear some insight from anyone as well.
I think if you are driving into campus daily, you will need to try and find a garage or lot you can pay for monthly. Sometimes ppl have extra parking spaces in their apts and they advertise. Maybe put a note up on the facebook page that you need parking.
@veriLey, I dropped a 5-unit class about a month ago and I was still accepted. It wasn’t part of my 60 units or IGETC, and it was low-priority major prep.
@lindyk8 parking is super expensive. probably best to park on Westwood and National and take the bus straight to campus.
Parking at UCLA has 2 option, you either pay the quarterly fee of 250 or so(rounding off) or you do the daily parking in structures 3 and 4, which is about 12 dollars a day.
Yeah, parking at UCLA is no joke. People have all sorts of hidden parking gems that they use. There are a lot of buses that go to campus so many people park off-campus , and then just take a bus 10 or 15 minute bus ride to campus.
If you don’t live on campus, you can apply to get a parking permit on campus. They’re very expensive and if you miss the deadline you’re screwed. But if you don’t mind paying the fee, then that’s definitely an option.
@veriLey I don’t know of bad stories, but listen to mine! So I TAGed Davis, applied to UCLA and UCB. I reported on my application my intention and courses that I would take in Spring and Summer, but things changed for me and I un-enrolled in January. I was contacted by Davis to report why this changed. I was already far ahead in terms of completed pre-reqs and IGETC, so there should not have been any problems with eligibility. Skip forward to last week: accepted to UCLA and UCD without a hitch. You are already in. So long as you have not jeopardized your eligibility, you’ll be fine. In my opinion, that is.
Parking permits go on sale beginning July 1st (I believe). I’m assuming when you apply for one, you have to register your car, correct? Well what if you get a new car after July 1st? Or is it just a pass registered to the student and can be used with any car?
@LuckyName, I could be wrong, but I think you have to register your car. In the housing app, it asked if you’d like to be considered for parking, and it asked for your car info.
@apocalypso I was pretty sure it was gonna be like that. But there has to be an option for new cars. Someone obviously isn’t going to park in a new car with their old car’s parking pass
Indeed if you miss a deadline UCLA does not care what the reason is. I had a death in my family and I didn’t apply for the Spring quarter in Jan, and I put in a exception, that I couldn’t apply because I was with my family during this period, and I would give them a death certificate or whatever they needed and they still denied it. Their excuse was “they were sold out” which I call complete BS, they are never sold out. They showed no compassion whatsoever.
This isn’t about missing a deadline though. This is about purchasing a new car.
hey guys, I’m a bit worried about a math class (for igetc) that i am taking this semester. i got accepted into UCLA but i am worried they will revoke my admission if i fail this class? do any of you have any experience with this or know of any information that may calm my nerves or give me hope? thanks guys
@withtwowingss don’t fail it.
