Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

Does UCB or UCLA have the better history department?

@FUTUREUCLABRUIN1
UC Berkeley slightly edges out UCLA in that department.

thanks so much @LuckyName so is that why they said “please review immunizations?” because its just suggested? Im 20 so I guess I don’t need to send everything in then right? I already am Vaxed but I just don’t want to go through the hassle of doctors etc if its not necessary. Also what did you do to apply for honors? Just clicked the apply button? Any supplements etc? Thanks again

Haha do any of you log onto your ucla status page just to look at that beautiful blue banner and decision letter? Haha I do sometimes, I’m just so proud of myself I still can’t believe I made it haha!! I’m so thrilled to have made my parents proud. :">

Best post of the day, @lcj1994

@Icj1994 No, it says “Review your immunization requirements and recommendations” because they’re giving you a month to review what is needed / recommended. There’s a “Submit your immunization history through the Ashe Secure Portal” deadline which is before your orientation. But since you’re 20, you don’t have to do it. BUT I THINK you have to get it done if you’re living on campus, regardless of age. I THINK.

As for the honors, there’s nothing you have to do except click on the apply button.

@luckie1367 Right now I’d plan just to be working a full time job, hopefully get an internship in my state’s government to see how I feel about political science too >.>

@merpcollegelife no, I meant what does your financial aid look like?

The best people to ask about deferment is UCLA, I suggest calling them on Monday.

@LuckyName oh gotcha! I’ll clarify all of this at Bruin day hopefully, don’t want to mess anything up thats for sure haha! You know I want to go to UCLA when I’m chomping at the bit to get shots :))

@apocalypso re: UCLA v Cal…I’m the same major and am really struggling with making a decision. I almost wish Cal rejected me so I wouldn’t have to choose.

I read somewhere on the UCLA website that you can’t defer enrollment for fall quarter. One should look for an official source from the website to confirm that this is still the case, though, or see if there are any exceptions.

@LM1993, YUP. That Berkeley prestige really is something. But UCLA is also very prestigious. The thing I didn’t like about Berkeley’s English major is that a lot of the classes are… things I’m not as interested in as the stuff at UCLA. Their major requirements are a lot more flexible, though. I’ll 99.9% go to UCLA, but it is something that’s pretty tough to consider. As far as cities go, I greatly prefer LA to Berkeley (and SF), and can’t see myself staying in the Bay long-term, so… that’s important to me, too, lol.

EDIT: Well, at least we’re lucky enough to even have this dilemma, lol.

Hi friends! So I have a couple questions and I was hoping someone on here could provide me with some insight.
First off congrats to everyone who got accepted I just sent in my SIR for fall I’m stoked! I got accepted with “pre” mathematics applied as my academics major so, first question… what is this? Ha I’m confused about the “pre”.
And second question, I want to change my major to mathematics for applied sciences, does anyone know if this is possible and how I should go about it?

@mandymoo the “pre” means you are missing prerequisites that can ONLY be taken at UCLA. once those are completed you can declare your mathematics major.

@LuckyName gotcha thanks! And also sorry, in regards to switching my major would i need to deal that before or after do you know?

@mandymoo that I don’t know about, which is why I didn’t comment on it. But somebody who does will comment soon enough

@LuckyName ha for sure. Thanks for the help though i appreciate it!

Am I the only one bothered by the layout of myUCLA? It bothers me so damn much! I obviously don’t want to make my browser more wide to accommodate everything. But UGH. I wish there was a way to organize it. I don’t know how my OCD will react to using this for two years. :frowning:

…I’m not having an issue with the layout? Do you mean everything doesn’t fit?

@luckie1367 Yes! So the browser is wide and you have to scroll to the left and right back and forth to see everything
