Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

I’m going off of a year old memory, but I believe so.

Just submitted my SIR! :-j

Whoo! @LuckyName ! The lucky/luckies are going to be bruins!!

@unknown10108 they calculate GPA up until the Fall, meaning your GPA can go up. For example, I’ll be attending Fall 2015, so my grades for Fall 2104 were included.

@luckie1367 yayyyy!!!

btw, what was the survey that needs to be taken upon submitting SIR? I know some posters were talking about it and they said it was rather long. Is it the educational planner survey?

Yes it is the educational planner survey @LuckyName, and it needs to be complete before orientation sign ups on june 4

@luckie1367 how long after you submitted your SIR was it made available? My portal says no surveys are currently available.

The day or so after @LuckyName

For UCLA orientation registration:

Last year registration opened up at like 3 PM. I went to register at about 4 o’clock, and the first three sessions or so were already full. So if you have a specific day that you need or want to go, I suggest you try to register right when the window opens.

Good advice @2016Candles !

Here is the website with the dates so people can plan: http://www.newstudents.ucla.edu/transferstudents.htm#dates

Hey guys, so how important is the May 9th thing? My kid has a sporting event at 2pm I really want to make, but I think orientation starts at 1pm? Is it a rolling orientation, or is it important to be there from beginning to end?

@fullload Bruin Day isn’t an orientation. It’s just an event filled with information regarding UCLA for transfers. Think of it like a “job fair.”

So I can drop in anytime between the hours of the event? Goes till 4 right?

@fullload yup! Look at the event page. There’s details regarding their presentations with start times and end times. So you can choose what you want to attend.

Orientation and registration is in summer, no? Isn’t the May thing just a tour and some talks? All I know is my daughter did not attend last year.

yeah, I’m just going to swing by with my family for the last hour of the event.

@luckie1367 ooh, that’s great! but what im wondering is like what if your gpa was 3.3 and then during this summer and this fall, it boosted back up to 3.62. Before colleges send out the acceptance letters, they will see that gpa as well? So not only the gpa when you submit your honors tap program will influence your acceptance?

…wait what? Have you already applied @unknown10108 ? Maybe I’m just not understanding you.

UC counts all grades up until the fall prior to transfer. You submit an update at the end of January with your fall grades (and if your CC offers a short winter session, those final grades as well), and your GPA is calculated at that time.

After they extend you an offer, they make a condition that you have an acceptable GPA in the spring session.

TAP was done at my school in the fall…and I have no clue if there was a GPA component to that certification.

Okay wait, I think I got it @unknown10108,

If you are applying this fall, YES, the UCs will see this summer and fall and calculate those grades into your GPA.

@luckie1367 haha so sorry i confused you but yeah, im applying to be transferred this year november. so basically i want to be in the uc for fall of 2016. When i submit the tag applications and stuff, Im asking if the colleges will see my progress throughout this upcoming summer, fall, and spring semester before transferring
