Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@2016Candles I couldn’t agree more.

Hello and congratulations to everyone who got in! I am an admitted UCLA transfer student for this fall and for me, I was admitted with UCLA knowing I would finish the 7 course pattern but not IGETC because in the UC application, I did not state that I would finish IGETC.
My question: Do admitted UCLA transfer students like me, who have completed just the 7 course pattern, have to take additional English and math courses on top of the extra general education requirements at UCLA? My major is Korean if that will mean anything.
I know this question will be answered in orientation, but if anyone has a definite answer then that would be awesome since the orientation sessions will not start until July.

You still did the two english courses and math, right?

Hi, lindy! Good to hear from you again.
Yes, I completed the two English courses, and I am taking the math course this spring semester at a CCC.
Do you think I would have to take an extra English and math course at UCLA? I was thinking no but I’m not entirely sure.

This is super late, but CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who got accepted to UCLA. You guys all deserve it! (: Thank you for all your contributions.

Did you take a foreign language?

oh duh. Your major. Haha, you probably completed that requirement, then! I think you have to take four quarters of a foreign language but I’m sure you did that with your major.

Yes, I completed the foreign language requirement because I’m a language major :slight_smile:
I’m just a little confused about whether if I have to take an extra English and math course when I’m a student at UCLA because I will have the 7 course pattern completed, but not IGETC.
Everyone knows that IGETC is not an admissions requirement, but it is definitely recommended to be completed so you don’t have to take any general education courses at UCLA.

@chorean, The breadth includes the minimum English courses and math, which you completed. You should be fine unless your major requires something more.

@luckie1367

Thanks! I just logged on my portal and noticed it’s been updated.

Ordered / Sent mine on 5/2, email confirmation that it was received by UCLA on 5/2, preliminary pending on 5/5

Did you figure out what the preliminary pending means? Does it just mean that they received fall transcripts and they’re not waiting on spring? I wish they would just have a checkbox for three different sets (fall, spring, and summer). and check off each one whenever they receive it.

@Mac2000 YYYYAAAAYYYYYY

@LuckyName wow! quick turn around!!

I believe the ‘pending’ does mean the fall transcript has been received, and it will be marked received when the official/spring transcript is received. I have no clue about summer transcripts.

You’re right, seeing everything explicitly would be nice

Hey @Cayton I see you lurkin’ :wink:

Hope you made it through midterms and the election okay!

Who wants to take psych stats with me in the summer? 8->

@luckie1367 stupid system lol

@luckie1367
I just finished my last essay midterm yesterday. Life is great right now…until week 8 or 9 of this quarter, then I’ll have to study hard for finals.

You’re going to have to learn to love the quarter system lol

For those of you who plan on going to Bruin Day this saturday—I think you’ll all love it. Very informative, you get to tour the campus, and free food. I certainly enjoyed it!

So I really wanted to go to PILOT day, but the registration has closed. I emailed, but I hardly think they’ll let me add last minute. Are there any other student-run organizations having a transfer admit day in the near future, that are still accepting RSVPs?

I am going to BRUIN day, but I wanted to go to PILOT day too, as it is a full day whereas Bruin Day is only 4 hours.

Wow. At first I thought I wanted to be in a quarter system, but now that I think about it… You must always be busy then cause it’s so fast paced.

Does anyone know if intro to c++ need to be taken prior to transferring to UCLA if you’re a math major or can you take it there? Cause idk how I’m gonna squeeze that into my already tight schedule.
