So I’m enrolling in two summer courses at my CC to get the full 70 units to transfer to UCLA…However, I didn’t put this on my original Nov. app or on the TAU in January. Where can I update this information so UCLA knows? I know that I’ll have to send a third transcript in September as well.
Hey Candles, too late, but good to know.
Curious, why is there an exchange class or drop class option? Is one better than the other? I got a little confused and dropped one, then added a different class instead of choosing exchange. Will that count against me? Will I still be able to take that dropped class later, or will I be penalized for dropping it somehow?
@2016Candles Thank you!
@fullload I’m actually unsure. I emailed the financial aid office about it, though, so when I find out I’ll let you know. You can drop your classes and get a refund for your fees as long as you do it by a certain date, but the deposit is nonrefundable.
@fullload
Nah, you’ll be fine. The exchange option just makes the process of switching classes easier.
You’ll only have a problem with summer sessions if you dropped all of your classes. For some reason, they charge you $150 for doing that.
@fullload
When you Register for classes and want to make a change in your schedule , then you want to use the switch class option. What that does is, it won’t drop your first class until you’re securely in the new class. If you just drop it and for some reason the new class is full, then you are not enrolled in either class.
@Luckyname ok so when I log into admissions, will it just pop up where the decision letter is displayed? sorry I am a little confused because I do not see within the admissions site where you can check on the status
@LuckyName also I did not accept the offer yet if that makes any difference
I like your avatar @UCLAme .
Low key really excited about PILOT Day and Bruin Day…
Hey @Cayton and/or anyone else who may know the answer to my concern. What are the chances of my admissions being revoked because I receive a D during my spring semester? It’s in an elective class but its just a ridiculous situation and I have already spoken to a couple admissions counselors at UCLA and they told me that the odds are in my favor since its not a major prep class but they still would have to make a judgement call once I actually receive the D on my transcript so I’m extremely worried. Help, advice needed. Obviously I’m going to work hard to NOT get the D but I’m just trying to prepare for the worst.
@apocalypso I don’t even want to go anymore tbh! I’m so exhausted! :((
but I’m still going to the bar tonight :))
@CaLadyyyyyyy
There’s a pretty good chance you will have your admission offer rescinded. D’s aren’t taken lightly. But what those counselors said seems encouraging.
Good luck with the class.
I have seen some students slide by, with the caveat to retake in summer with a b grade, or something similar. The fact that it’s an elective helps. Good luck!
If you have extenuating circumstances, @CaLadyyyyyyy they may be understanding. Just make sure you explain it well, and that you have a back up plan (just in case).
Can you drop the class?
And @luckie1367 unfortunately if I drop I will get a W which is also bad and I won’t have 60 units by the end of spring without this class. It’s a physiological psychology class but I don’t need anymore science credit and its not a pre-requisite since I’m not even a science major so it just counts as an elective.
I’m so worried and discouraged that I’m not even going to Bruin Day because I can’t get excited about UCLA until I get a C in this class or something.
Have you contacted UCLA? You need to do it as soon as possible. And you’re right- do not drop it.
Lindy is right, DO NOT DROP.
Are you a SMC student?
Do you receive unit credit for a grade of D? I don’t know the answer- I’m genuinely asking. @lindyk8 @luckie1367
Hmm… thats an excellent point @2016Candles. I’m really not sure.
Also CaLadyyyyy, what is your major?
I go to Glendale community college not smc. And Yes I spoke to 2 different counselors at UCLA admissions. The first one told me that she thinks/hopes I will be ok but it will come down to a judgement call by the person who reviews my application because every case is different. And the second counselor actually looked up my application and said that she also thinks they can overlook one D but that’s no guarantee but they may have me retake this course over summer but the worst part is my college doesn’t offer this class over summer but I’ll deal with that if/when its necessary.
My final is June 8 and I started studying yesterday. If I ace the final she will pass me with a C. It’s crunch time!!
