If they require igetc completion from you your contract should be quite explicit about it.
Weird, neither my contract nor the transcript area that luckie pointed out asks for my IGETC. It’s not mentioned anywhere.
I’m still going to send it in, because it will be complete after Spring, but it’s strange they are not asking for it anywhere.
All you have to do is look at L&S, major and assist to see if IGETC is required. It is not required for all majors. Some will take partial. If you checked within the application that it would be completed by spring and it won’t be, you need to let them know.
@fullload IGETC req for am lit:
http://www2.assist.org/exploring-majors/findMajorDescription.do?abbrev=UCLA&majorId=665&type=UC
@platocrat, and all of you, go to assist. Click explore majors at bottom, then click uc campuses, and pick your UC. A list if majors shows up with info.
Thanks lindy, that’s the page that helped me finish all my igetc, I know it well. I was just pointing out that for some reason, ucla is not asking for the certification anywhere. I’m sending it anyway, whether they like it or not.
Update re: TSP. I emailed one of the coordinators and she said that there were no specific eligibility criteria. If you email them, they’ll add you to the target population list, and you should be able to apply within 48 hours.
@luckie1367 where in your portal does it say they received your IGETC? under college transcripts as well?
Hi @cupoft (: Im also an anthro BA major. deciding to apply next yr. I only have a 3.7 so far bc I got a B in a chem class in my 1st semester when I was still thinking of majoring in Bio. Do you think I have a chance for ucla, pretending my gpa won’t increase?
Oh and how come you mentioned you havent finished linguistic for major pre-req, I dont see that as a requirement on the ucla page/assist?
Emailed the financial aid office, and they said we won’t be getting summer aid award notifications until the end of the month.
@LuckyName no, so far no change on MyUCLA, I only have the SMC thing that says ‘full IGETC’ blah blah
I think it might show up at some point on the DARS thing
Can someone explain to me where I could find the link that shows if my transcript was received or not? The link they are telling me to use just takes me to the same pages over and over. Why is this so complicated?
@-)
@Thiger after you log into MyUCLA, there are some links in white on a blue background at the top that say myfeatures/new students/classes/academics etc. They should be under your name on the right
If you click on new students, and go to admissions home (on the left), you should see your SIR info, and if you scroll down, your transcript stuff.
@luckie1367 what do you mean full IGETC? Like the printout from the school? So it’s not confirmed they haven’t received it?
@luckie1367 Thank you!
@LuckyName I have the page from SMC that has a check next to ‘Full IGETC’, with the understanding that a copy has been sent to UCLA.
I’m not sure what you mean by your last question. So far I do not have confirmation that UCLA has received/processed it, nor do I know where that info is posted on MyUCLA
I have a question!
Do I have to maintain 3.0 SEMESTER GPA for my last semester?
I’m taking only one class, and I think I’m gonna get a C, which is 2.0…
My condition only says that complete your IGETC class with C or higher.
Also, UCLA says report when I got more than 2 Cs, is this means for my last semester?
Hey guys… I’m in a bit of a pickle right now. I just took my physics exam and I probably failed it. This means I can’t get higher than a C in physics. I’m worried because this will make my GPA fall below 3.0 for this semester, but my overall gpa is still above 3.0.
Will my admission be revoked because of this? Physics isn’t a major prep for me.
For anyone concerned about being rescinded due to grades:
1st - Read your provisional admissions offer, to see what they say about grades, courses, and GPA. Everyone’s is different, and some people’s are very specific.
2nd- Reread your provisional admissions until you understand what they are asking you to do.
3rd- If you are still unsure, or if you’re looking for feedback or reassurance, and want to post on CC, please provide us with all pertinent data - major, original gpa, details of provisional admissions, what requirement the course fulfills, etc.
Most people here are willing to help or at least provide their 2 cents, but please do your part and provide the necessary details.
Thank you @2016Candles!!!
- My contract says if I get 2 Cs or any Ds and Fs I have to report it, and if I get a C in a major prep course. Doesnt say anything about gpa, only "maintaining academic performance"
My major is cognitive science and I applied with a 3.37 gpa. My gpa this semester would be a 2.86, which means my overall gpa would fall by .1. The course I’m getting a C in isn’t major prep. I’m just concerned about admission being rescinded because my gpa would drop below a 3.0 this semester.
@Salmanthgr8
If your provisional admissions contract does not say anything about maintaining a 3.0 GPA for the spring semester, then I don’t think there’s anything for you to worry about. There’s nothing for you to report because based on what you’ve told us, you are meeting the guidelines of your provisional admission.
