Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

No, just bring your unofficial transcript so they can see you are taking the courses.

To the orientation? That sounds good! Will do. Thank you lindyk8

For those taking summer courses: the bookstore has updated! You can now find out what textbooks you need.

@luckie1367
Even if you don’t get official transfer themed housing, you’re likely to be grouped with many other transfers on the same floor. That’s what happened with me.

Good to know, thanks @Cayton! Btw, good luck on finals!

@luckie1367 it’s been updated for quite some time now, a few weeks actually.

Can any OOS transfers help me out with my question here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1779021-hours-vs-units-for-ge-courses.html#latest

Thanks. :slight_smile:

@luckie1367
Thanks, I’ll need it. I have a 13 page paper due at the end of the quarter for one of my classes and two 4-6 page papers for another one, and a 6 page paper and in-class writing exam for another.

Papers are being assigned from all directions.

Did anyone applying for an appeal hear back yet?
I submitted mine May 2nd and I’m getting nervous as June 1st inches its way closer.

@LuckyName oh, my bad! I just noticed yesterday.

@Cayton I audibly swore when I saw your post. Dude, you rock if you can do all of that! Good luck!

@reinare Sorry, not familiar with appeals. Did they give you an idea of when a decision would be made? If you don’t mind me asking, what was your appeal based on?

@luckie1367 no idea, which is why I’m looking for others who submitted an appeal. Someone in one of the forums mentioned 2-3 weeks. Not sure if it’s 2-3 weeks from your submission or the deadline…

My appeal was based on my life that I didn’t mention in my first essay. ex:
My family survived on 19-300 a month and struggled through several periods of homelessness in the last 25 years. TMI :confused:

I mentioned that I chose UCLA because it’s one of the only universities (if not, the only UC) that offers one of my majors, Asian linguistics. (I applied as an art major. If accepted, I would petition for a double major in art and foreign linguistics).
I stated I carefully researched and found that the art department’s contemporary art courses and current professors pertained greatly to my goals for my education in art.

I understand the probability of appeals actually reversing a decision
but it doesn’t kill anyone to try anyway

Reinare-- I also appealed on the basis of an overall grade change (2.9 to 3.4ish). I anticipate that we’ll receive a decision in the weeks following the June 1st SIR deadline.

@starkali
What’s your major? Congrats on your gpa bump!
I was afraid of that.

Does anyone know if ucla allows transfers to defer an acceptance( if they cannot meet the June deadline)?

@reinare if you get accepted from the appeal I think you’ll have like 3 days or something to SIR. If you had plans to defer anyways, it is really hard to defer at UCLA. >.>

@reinare African-American studies. And thank you! Finger crossed for the both of us.

Hey @starkali
Do you know about the SIR time period for appeals ^ mentioned be merpcollegelife^?
I thought our time limit for SIR was the same as everyone else, June 1st.

@luckie1367
Don’t worry. I got this s**t. :wink:

Oh @Cayton, I didn’t mean that as shade or a back handed compliment or anything! I’m just really impressed since that is a metric S**t ton of work to do!!

@reinare I didn’t mean to pry, I was just curious!

Anyone else having problems logging into the Admission Decision website? when I try to log in it says “Record not found”

https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/myApplication/Login.aspx

No, @lakeeshow310 I can still get in and see everything.
