Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@luckie1367
No problem, and thanks, I just completed my last final yesterday(It was an essay I had to turn in online).

Don’t know how I survived that onslaught of papers, but I did. Now, onward to summer classes next week!

Hooray! Make sure to celebrate a little though

And as always @Cayton, thanks for stickin’ around here and helping us out :x

Also, I should note that UCLA is OK with people taking breaks from school…for as long as they want.

You could take as many quarters or years off from school as you want. When you want to start school again, you’ll be able to do it, no questions asked. I learned this from someone who took a break for year(It may have been a year and a half) and had no problems reenrolling at UCLA.

So, if any of you decide to take a break for whatever reason, just know that UCLA’s got your back.

Can anyone tell me the difference and benefits of the UCLA dorms vs UCLA apartments. I am really not sure which one I should choose.

The option to choose is over. Unless you’re thinking of submitting a change of assignment request.

The difference is that one is a dorm and one is an apartment. They are very different styles of living.

The apartments are essentially across the street. Everyone at UCLA chants the mantra that unless you are on campus in a dorm you are missing out on a huge chunk of college life. But they’re only across the street for God’s sake. All of Berkeley’s dorms are off campus, as is Greek everywhere. If you want a bit more room, lower cost, a little more quiet (although it depends where you’re at), and not up in everyone’s business, you might enjoy an apt better. If you really want social, go with dorm.

The apartments aren’t across the street. There are several different complexes and they are located in different locations around the Westside. They’re not too far from campus, but not walking distance.

Some of the apartments are literally across the street…

so i was checking my AP scores and it seems like UCLA accepts 3’s (which i remember that they didn’t back then). Because of that I didn’t report the 3’s. Would i be rescinded because i didnt write all my AP scores on the UC application? I just wrote the ones i got a 4 in. I also thought that because i retook those AP classes (that i got a 3 in) at my college that they would not need them.

Also, I’ll call them as well.

awesome i called them and they said just to send official scores and they’ll deal with it. they said not to worry bc i passed all the exams.

thank you @anikom15. We don’t have to nitpick all the time @2016candles. You did it last year to me non-stop until I sent you a pm to stop. There are TONS across the street, Westwood is a small community and the point is you’re part of the campus life. That was, and is, the point being made.

Oh @lindyk8 you’re such a know it all bully and it’s very annoying.

There are endless apartments in WW and some are official UCLA housing and most are not. Just because students live there doesn’t make it official student housing. I have no issue saying that I was less than accurate if that’s the case. I don’t have an incessant need to always be right. But you saying apartments are across the street, ONLY is also not accurate.

Everything is not about you. I didn’t even know you were the one who made the comment- I didn’t pay attention to the source. Perhaps you should evaluate why you’re so fixated on me and my comments. In the future please don’t address me or PM me. You and I have no further business.

FWIW, the context of the conversation made it apparent (at least to me) that we were talking about the ‘official’ UCLA sanctioned apartments, which are close to campus.

lindyk8 is not a bully. She and many other ‘senior members’ have been, for the most part, rather helpful.

Candles will you do me a favor? Go to my profile and click ignore. Then you will never see my posts again. It’s a win-win. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

And btw, I used the word “essentially”. I really have no joy dealing with you. Good luck with your future endeavors.

This may have been mentioned earlier, but are you able to register for classes (without being left with slim pickings) without going to orientation?

I am a Math/Econ major if that makes any difference.

@jiberish I believe someone said that if you do not attend orientation, you register after everyone else, which may leave you with slim pickings

Without orientation, you contact admissions or registrar, not sure which and let them know you need registration date. They will assign you a date that I believe will be after all of the other orientation dates. If you are part of an impact major then yes the pickings will be slim. If your major is not impacted, then you may have better options. You will still be limited on elective choices.

If you do end up with classes that aren’t your first choice, utilize wait lists and crash classes when you can. Email instructors and ask if they’re giving out PTE codes. Some professors will give you a code if you ask and show up on the first day, and some professors will never give out code no matter what. It never hurts to ask.

Definitely utilize The website class scanner. It will help you be notified when the classes open up. Don’t be discouraged if you get classes you don’t like. More than likely during the first week of classes you will be able to enroll in something that was previously closed or waitlisted.

anyone in TSP receive a provisional summer aid award letter?

I was just accepted to TSP! Does anyone know if we have to accept the offer or what the next steps are? Also, do we have to enroll in the 204 orientation? I already switched to 202…
