Hello, I have a question:
If a UCLA transfer student is admitted and attends orientation but right before fall classes start, the student is not able to attend UCLA this fall because of personal reasons (financial, family, etc.), can the student return back to UCLA any time or does the student have to re-apply as a transfer student again for the next academic year?
I believe that would be deferring enrollment, which you cannot do.
Okay, so that would mean the student has to re-apply again right?
@chorean I believe that you HAVE to attend the Fall Quarter, but you could withdraw in the winter/spring.
Hope everything is okay!
Unfortunately, you have to reapply. Although, all things being equal, you’re “in the club,” so should make it back in.
Thank you, everyone!
I was asking that question because for me, I have a family situation that’s not getting better right now so if things do get worse, I’m going to have to attend the fall quarter and withdraw temporarily right after. I read that you can come back any time as long as you took at least 1 quarter at UCLA. I don’t want to go through the hassle of re-applying again.
But I’m attending session 203 - July 24 for orientation so maybe I’ll see some of you guys there!
I think it would be better to attend Fall and withdraw in Winter rather than apply again, but please do come back soon. We’ll miss you and you deserve something for all your hard work.
And you should verify that they’ll let you back in. I’m sure Mr. Cayton is right but I haven’t read anything about withdrawing myself.
I know you can withdraw for 1 quarter very easily-by just clicking a few things in MY UCLA. I don’t know what the procedures are for withdrawing for multiple quarters. I suggest you do your own research and talk to administration at UCLA to find out the proper procedures for withdrawing for multiple quarters.
Will do! I guess I can find out more about it in orientation.
I was a Trojan because I attended USC before, but now I’m a Bruin! Lol
I got accepted to both rival schools (USC and UCLA) haha.
Good choice @chorean, because you will have to reapply if you drop fall term. I know you worked really hard to get in. Good luck with your personal issue.
Grades posted for my community college. I got another 4.0 for this spring semester. GOODBYE 4.0’s! I’ll never see you again at UCLA, lol. :))
Congrats Lucky!
IGETC Spot just appeared on the DAR, but it still says it hasn’t gotten my paperwork :-/ Anyone else see/not see something there?
Edit: actually there are two places, ‘IGETC Work In Progress’ and ‘General Education Exempt status’
Lol you worry too much over your DAR @luckie1367
Everybody has said that thing is going to be screwed up until orientation.
My DAR is essentially blank.
Ha, I think its just a combination of my neuroticism and the fact that I really want to go to UCLA! I’ll be dammed if I have to re-apply just because of a paperwork mix-up
We technically don’t have to apply for a bruincard ahead of time, right? We can just have our picture taken at orientation and do it then?
no you must submit your picture and your bruincard will be given to you on your orientation date! there’s a list underneath your orientation date. click on that and it should direct u to the ucla bruin card procedures
@fncrane I think you can go before orientation and have them take your photo, but I think if you want to pick it up at orientation, you have to submit it early
oh interesting. i thought i couldn’t since there was a deadline in mine. maybe it’s just to get it asap
