i got my housing u guys! does anybody know anything about saxon suites? i heard it was under renovation and will be opening up this fall brand new
@trnsfrstdnt they were just renovated. Hitch, which is the same style, was done last year. You have the equivalent of a living room, plus two bedrooms and bath with divided toilet room and shower room. (Maybe some have three bdrms, not sure.) We were told a lot of pre-game parties occur at hitch and Saxon due to space. Hitch, right above at the top of the hill, added a huge lounge and community kitchen. My daughter had been set for Hitch. Personally, I think they’re both superb options. You will also be blended with some non-transfers, which I think is ideal in terms of acclimating. And Saxon is closer in than hitch.
oh awesome! @lindyk8 thank you for the feedback! I’m super stoked on attending at UCLA even more now! I’m ok with the pre-game since i’ll probably be joining as well. I just hope that my roommate is a transfer student just so that we have more things in common or near my age.
I’m sure they’ll be plenty of transfers in the complex. I really followed the hitch renovation last year, so knew about the new lounge with huge walk around balcony and community kitchen (the only student kitchen up there). I assume Saxon has some sort of lounge area. Plus there are basketball courts, sand volleyball (I think?), and further up that sunset recreation place.
Finally received my housing offer!!! Classic triple in Rieber.
@trnsfrstdnt It looks like there’s an outdoor movie screen at Saxon. What do you think?

Did anyone get housed in Sproul Cove/Landing?
@lindyk8 i’m already in love
question, how do i choose the option OCH-Fin Aid Quarterly as my payment option? it says that it wont allow me. I got my provisional fin aid and recently (about 3 days ago) submitted my official/file-completed fafsa 2014 taxes.
this is what it says in red: You are not eligible to select the Financial Aid Payment plan because your estimated aid eligibility, $0.00, is less than the total cost of the housing you have selected, $15504.00. Please select a different payment plan.
I got offered Reiber triple. But I wanted De Neve Gardenia. So…um…doesanyonewanttotrade? Sucks being admitted on an appeal, everything is pretty much already gone.
I got the same thing and I have no idea why. And my provisional is not even available yet. @trnsfrstdnt
@Franchman that sucks to hear. I got admitted off of the waitlist(about a week ago) and so i didn’t know much about the Transfer community housings until after. my provisional was emailed to me so u should check your email as well. i hope things work out for you and i’ll have to try to ask on monday about the financial aid…
@Franchman I received the same offer, but I wanted the Afrikan Diaspora theme housing, so I’m satisfied.
It won’t say if you were accepted into theme housing on your offer, correct?
Well the Afrikan Diaspora was definitely an option but I wanted less people and I heard the De Neve was great for transfers. @starkali
Well my provisional was emailed to me, but it looks very inaccurate. @trnsfrstdnt
looks like a lot of you guys will not be in the transfer dorms
Got my offer this afternoon as well - triple plaza in Rieber Vista. Was kinda hoping for De Neve but oh well
@Cayton my man! You lived in Rieber Court, right? I just scoured the UCLA transfer FB page and saw a lot of horror stories about transfers in Rieber terrace/vista getting placed with freshman roommates - were there a lot of freshmen in your building/on your floor? Idk how I’d feel about this, I mean I already did a freshman dorm experience and I kinda want people my age…
so my cal grant got disqualified
and also idk if i’ll be getting the blue and gold since my parents make just a bit above 80k
That’s too bad @trnsfstdnt, sometimes it can be misleading as they calculate not just income but assets.
@trnsfrstdnt
I’m pretty sure Blue and Gold is a hard stop at $80k. BUT that doesn’t mean that you won’t be eligible to receive enough aid. If when you get your FA package it’s not what you need, you can submit an appeal with the FA offer.
