Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

Call to see if there are any spaces in earlier orientations. Many of us on the thread (including myself) have been able to secure spots this way,

@Franchman no, no new student packet was given at bruin day to my knowledge.

Anyone who has attended orientation, could you provide a detailed description and experience of that day? It would be extremely helpful!

@FUTUREUCLABRUIN1 Sure, I’m going to 201 on 7/13, I’ll make sure I write all about it :wink:

it just hit me, 3 more weeks til our session!

Also, for on campus peeps, first housing payment is due tomorrow!

just got my ucla package in the mail! also, it smells like raw almonds crushed…lol

@luckie1367 Do you know anything about when we can possibly try and change our housing? I thought it’d be before we have to make the first payment, but I still see it as “coming soon”. I went ahead and made the first payment anyway though, since I didn’t want to my contract to be cancelled.

@zettasyntax , sorry I don’t!

I think it was a good idea to make the payment though, thats what I would have done

@luckie1367 Thanks for the mega fast response! :slight_smile: Yeah, I thought it would make more sense for them to try and let us change housing before the first payment was due, but maybe if some people don’t make their initial payment, we might be able to trade for those spots? That’s the only thing I can think of anyway =\

Haha, I just happened to refresh right as you posted your message I guess :))

I think your logic is sound. It wouldn’t be super efficient to make all these changes only for people to drop out anyway.

I hope you get your preference!

@zettasyntax are you talking about the change of assignment request thingy?? I was wondering about that too :frowning: I can’t decide if I want to submit one or not… On myHousing it says that it’s due July 15 but still not available yet :confused:

@fncrane Yeah, I want to see if I could maybe try for a university apartment. I saw that some transfers on the Facebook page got offered one, so I really wanted to aim for one of those. Under my change of assignment request, it just says coming soon without any mention of a specific deadline, so I have no clue when that might be available =\

@fncrane I got rieber vista plaza triple as well! I was really hoping To get university apartments or a suite. Did you get a private or shared bath?

@UCLA17 shared! I wanted a private bath ;( Thinking about submitting a CAR once they’re available…

@fncrane that’s what I got too :frowning: I didn’t even list that on my preferences. I definitely want to submit a CAR And hope for the best lol

@UCLA17 any idea when that becomes available??? I can’t find a definitive answer anywhere :frowning:

@fncrane I could’ve sworn I read the date July 15th somewhere. The only thing is that that’s around the time when financial aid gets finalized and if I get offered an apartment I’ll have to switch it to off campus and that’ll mess with my aid probably :-?

Hi guys,
I’m a rising sophomore at a private university…I would really like to transfer to a UC (for many reasons), so I’ve been doing a lot of research and trying to figure out how the process works. I am aware that my chances of getting accepted is low since I’ll be transferring from a private university, as opposed to a CCC.
I was really hoping that some of you guys could guide me through the application process. Did any of you guys have a college counselor to help you with the transfer process? Did you attend orientation for transfer students?
Thank you all in advance.

@luckie1367 Thank you for being kind, but I will be attending going to 201. I meant to address current UCLA students who went to last years orientation.
