Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@LuckyName how was your first day?!

I actually decided to take the 100A class, so we were in the same room together! :stuck_out_tongue:

@Manda001 yeah, my daughter was missing that one too. You’ll be fine even if you have to forego it this quarter. You can take any of those four. I would think ling 1 being such a big course may be the easiest, but I didn’t look to see them all.

@luckie1367 haha, did you? It was okay. Basically review today since I’ve taken stats and research methods before. Professor seems nice

I thought the same

When are we supposed to move-in for Fall Quarter 2015?

Sep 20 @ennanzoid

Well one of my lower divisions that I hope to take I’d at 26 seats at the moment, though the lab component (which is an enforced corequisite) is at 28. I suspect debauchery!

@luckie1367 How’d you know? Where did you find the exact date for move-in?

@ennanzid I think I read it somewhere.

You can always email housing if you wan a more official answer

I just want to make sure I got the Transfer Next Steps right.
So basically its not mandatory to turn in your immunizations? (I did just in case) and the alcohol course got pushed back?

@lindyk8 thanks! I think only ling 1 and anthro 33 are available this quarter, but it seems like there are a lot of seats so fingers crossed I can snatch up one of them.

Also, I’m sorry for all the questions, but when are all of you planning to arrive at UCLA? The quarter starts Monday 21st but instruction 24th? Are there activities a couple of days before school starts? I don’t wanna miss out on something like that ;))

@Manda001 There are tons of activities the week before so be sure to get there. It’s a big welcome party!

We will not be there. My daughter ultimately switched over to Berkeley after the fact. Have a great time in Communications - it’s a top department. Congrats!

P.S. Your lucky you got comm studies 10 done. I heard it’s a bear. >:)

@Manda001 it’s called week zero.

so it seems like because my parents barely make above 80K, i lost eligibility for my university grant. therefore, rather than receiving 16.6K university grant, i’m now getting 8K. Leaving me 26grand to pay through loans. also, my EFC is 17,800 lol gg.

edit: does this seem reasonable? thanks guys.

I’m on my phone so I had to keep scrolling up to type out your name, took way too long considering how you have it spelled. So I gave up and decided not to tag you. Lol.

But will your parents be contributing that?

That seems about normal for the UC system, @trnsferstudent. I really feel like the middle class gets hurt the most when it comes to the governmental system, including college tuition. I’m sorry you’re left with such a large burden if you decide (or have already decided) to attend. The one advantage to having a super poor mother is my 0 EFC. My only advice would being seeing how much your parents could contribute for this first year and then apply for scholarships like it’s a part-time job. I only spent a small amount of time applying for scholarships this year but was able to cover my net cost with my winnings ($9,200)

@LuckyName haha yea it’s quite hard so i understand. and no lol…they’re going to give me 5k and i have to cover the rest and pay it off after i graduate.

@onmyway8 thank you! I will be applying to scholarships as a part time job! i never expected this to happen nor did my parents. One of my parents makes 85k and my other one doesn’t work. So i feel as though we barely made it haha…

How old are you?
