Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

Hi UCLA transfers!

I am currently taking two classes during summer classes during summer session A, and I was wondering if UCLA takes these classes into account when I will register for my classes in July. I am currently in Econ 11 and 41, and I plan on taking Econ 101 in the fall. However, I’m afraid I won’t be able to sign up for Econ 101 because I won’t have finished Econ 11 by the time I register. Am I wrong in thinking that not having completed Econ 11 by the time I register for classes will restrict me from signing up for Econ 101? Also, as a side question, what are the best upper division elective classes to take to help fulfill the 60 unit upper division requirement (12 of which are supposed to be non-major related)? I’m just curious what classes I should be planning to take outside of Economics and Management courses.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide!

I’d also like to see if anyone else knows whether transfers are responsible for taking foreign language classes at UCLA even if I have fulfilled the IGETC foreign language requirement. I took three years of foreign language in high school, which allowed me to satisfy the IGETC foreign language requirement, but I’ve been told that the only way to avoid taking foreign language classes at UCLA is to take a year of foreign language at a CC. Does the IGETC certification actually satisfy the UCLA foreign language requirement, or will I need to complete 3 quarters of a foreign language at UCLA because I did not take any foreign language classes at my CC? My major is Business Economics if that is significant.

“Housing currently has no record of your admission/employment status.” is what is says when i click on my application @LuckyName

@angled same here. so I guess it’s normal.

Does anyone know how long we have to accept our financial aid?

Reason being is that as of now, my housing is on campus but when I submitted my CAR I chose off campus apartments.

thanks @LuckyName thats a relief lol

@xenon528491 I believe they do consider in progress and planned courses when you register. As for foreign language, my understanding is that unless you major requires more language, IGETC is fine for most people.

@angled mine says the same

@UCLA17 I think you can accept it even in September, so you have time if you need it.

@luckie1367 thank you so much! Much appreciated! :slight_smile:

So I totally wanna experience the football games. I’ve heard they’re really something! Is it too early to get tickets? :smiley: 8-}

@xenon528491 like luckie said, it’ll probably be a provisional enrollment sort of arrangement. If you have problems still, email the professor directly!

@Manda001 ABSOLUTELY GO TO GAMES!! At orientation make sure you ask about a Den pass,it gets you into the home football and basketball games!

I’ll be there :slight_smile:

@luckie1367 Hey, sorry for the late response. Mine does not say anything about the Middle Class Scholarship. I am assuming CSAC will email us when MCS is disbursed, because they emailed me twice about not qualifying for cal grant.

@Stevieindb no worries, and thanks!

I think I’ll be too busy studying to go to football games. I mean the summer courses I’m taking are quite a load (though it is somewhat accelerated) compared to what I’m used to. It’s really not a lot of work, but the material and studying takes a lot of thinking.

Also, does anyone know how one exactly qualifies for a UC SHIP grant? The cost is fully covered, which I thought was a little odd because I don’t get much aid.

I thought I saw someone ask if anyone’s CalGrant went down… If I go on the actual CSAC website, I was originally supposed to receive 13,084 or something around that number. But because of the Blue and Gold Program, I believe it went down to around 12 thousand something which is something some of you have received as well.

@UCLA17 as stated before, that number was changed because tuition did not increase as it was supposed / expected to.

Ahhh come on @anikom15 your not going to be studying 24/7! Games are such a great way to feel bonded with your classmates and school! As to the UCSHIP, I also got a grant, which I thought was odd too…

Did anyone else in DN GH get an email about openings for Hill Government representatives?

If you guys met the fafsa deadline., you get USHIP coverage

@trnsfrstdnt seriously?! Thats awesome! I thought it was a mistake. How do you know?
