So are they going to allow column B to be opened for later dates or is everybody just screwed in general?
Hopefully they get it fixed so later sessions can enroll in Column B courses
What did you choose as your third class?
Ugh, well hopefully they do that. I can’t take 100B in the summer since i have other commitments. I don’t want a column A with 100B, that would be torture. I guess I dodged a bullet by rescheduling my orientation date.
Yeah, you really did!
I’ll post it later, since I’m on my phone and can’t really pull up MyUCLA
Reeeeeally starting to wish I’d signed up for anything other than 208. I’m not expecting philosophy to fill up that fast, but still kind of worrying a bit.
@Platocrat you can call and see if they have any space in earlier sessions. It just costs like an extra $10 or something to change it
@luckie1367 I would, but I’ve already made flight/hotel arrangements and the like (I tried staying an extra night, but the guest housing was filled up). Did you hear your story being repeated by others from different majors, or would you say that your major being psych had a lot to do with the circus?
I didn’t really talk to other people in other majors, but my understanding is that all psych majors had the same problems
@Cayton or @2016Candles what are the chances a petition for a 3rd year would be accepted? I’d like to try and avoid taking multiple 16 unit quarters, but it would put me about 16 units above the 216 unit max…
where’s @fullload i haven’t seen him around complaining in forever!
just keep in mind that getting your classes will be like CC. Your first quarter will not be that great but in the end, things will work out.
@trnsfrstdnt I’m totally okay with that, the problem I have is that the classes THEY TOLD US we could enroll in 4-5 hours ago were completely CLOSED, forcing us to enroll in the more difficult classes.
I wasn’t expecting to get my perfect schedule, but I’d at least like the chance to enroll in thing that they told us we could.
Plus, every other session after us (assuming they fix it) won’t have this problem, meaning session 201 gets screwed
@luckie1367 email a couple of profs whose classes you want, briefly explain the glitch, you were the first transfer session and locked out, and see if you can get a pass into the class or priority waiting. Be sure to drop by their office as well when the term starts. Go to every class you want, and follow the online registering site (whatever it’s called), so you can pounce if something opens. I’m sure you’ll be able to get at least one from B.
@lindyk8 thats very good advice, I hadn’t thought of that!!
Yeah, I didn’t really get to register any of the classes I wanted I guess I didn’t research enough. When they said we could take an elective course, I didn’t know it had to be upper div. I so wanted to take ling 20, but my advisor wouldn’t let me
My group was crazy! This one girl kept cussing at our advisor because he was really behind. My appointment with him was at 5PM, but he didn’t get to see me until 6:20PM, so I was basically the last person in the room at Covel. He finished with my appointment at 6:45PM I believe and we had to sprint over to his room to get ready for registration. That same girl kept cussing even more when we started to register and she found out that the courses our advisor promised her she would be able to get into were all full.
I am so scared for Friday now :-SS
@luckie1367 I don’t have any personal experience with that but from what my friends have told me, it shouldn’t be a problem if you have a plan. If you’re using the additional units for a minor, 2nd major, or something like that 16 extra units should be ok. Talk to your academic advisor, not departmental, and let them know what you want to do and why. It shouldn’t be a big deal.
EDIT- HOWEVEVER, you aren’t guaranteed the same financial aid you received your first 2 yeRs. If you have Blue and Gold, that’s only for 2 years.
Thanks @2016Candles! It would be for a minor (i think)
@zettasyntax She should be rescinded for that type of behavior. It wasn’t the NSA’s fault, they had like 1 printer for all the NSAs to print their stuff they gave you after the 1-1 counseling session.
For Session 202 peeps, a couple of things. Get there early, be nice to your NSA and group mates, ask lots of questions, HAVE ALTERNATES FOR ALL CLASSES, be flexible in your scheduling and expectations for the day, HAVE ALTERNATES FOR YOUR ALTERNATES, talk to other people who aren’t in your group/major, HAVE ALTERNATES FOR YOUR ALTERNATE’S ALTERNATES…
If you hadn’t noticed, alternates are very important when it comes to registration. You will waste to much time if you try to find alternates once you can’t get in, so use the Class Planner on MyUCLA wisely!!!
@zettasyntax so we can choose an upper div. elective course???
@ennanozid They made us choose an upper div elective outside our major, yes. I wanted a philosophy one, but wound up with a geography one because every other choice I wanted was full. So luckie is definitely right. Have a longgg list of other choices
