You get rescincded, you get rescinded, everybody gets rescinded!!!
Wait, who told someone that you have to apply to be in comm studies once you are accepted? I went to the (one and only) communication studies department meeting yesterday at orientation, and the advisor didn’t mention anything about that. Maybe if you are trying to SWITCH into comm studies?
Also, talking about registering for classes, finding a third class was TOUGH. They said you have to pick one outside of your major, but then all of the other classes seemed to be full or restricted for only people in the major. I ended up with a very early documentary class, but I just realized it actually costs toward the comm major anyway, so I guess it wasn’t all bad!
@onmyway8 Yah my NSA told us that we needed to apply in and then later before enrolling said she way wrong… I knew she was but that freaked me out. How many hoops must we jump through for an easy-ish major in the grand scheme of things. I was in that meeting too, which CC did you go to? There were only like 10 of us right in the meeting?
@lcj1994 yeah, I think it was just a mix up by your NSA And I went to SMC! I was with Alex Katz. She was a great NSA! What about you?
@onmyway8 Oh cool so we probably saw each other haha! My NSA was with the Anthro students in my group so a bunch of us went to the meeting without our NSA lol. Were you someone who asked questions, anyone i might have heard?
When it says “Closed by Dept”, it means that these classes have spots left for new students right?
@ennanozid it means they MIGHT open it for new students.
They only open up certain classes, or certain times. Check the day before (or morning before) since I think thats when I noticed some of them opened.
After reading all of this I feel a little better about having later orientation. Econ admitted late off the waitlist and I am hoping the kinks will be worked out by the time I attend. Keep the advice coming.
@luckie1367
Not sure how good your chances are of getting that petition approved are, but there are plenty of 5th year students at UCLA and beyond, so perhaps some of them decided to take smaller courseloads and finish later.
You should consult with a UCLA counselor.
Thanks @Cayton!
Do a lot of people come to orientation without class schedules in mind?
@UCLA17 I did, and about 80% of my group had some idea of what they wanted.
If you want your registration to go smoothly, you HAVE to have some plan of what you want to take. Make sure to look at your degree/major requirements so that you can get some of those completed.
One thing to remember is that you can only have two classes for your major, and one elective chosen from outside your major. So, you’ll want to do some extra research into the elective and see if it will still satisfy something for your major or not.
I can’t wait for school to start!!! UCLA was awesome :x
Kind of unrelated, but I was just talking about it with a friend…
To anyone living in Reiber Vista (were we met our NSA to actually enroll at 7pm), those dorms are pretty big. We comfortably fit 6 anxious psych majors and an NSA, and I never once though it was tiny or cramped. Plus it had an amazing view!
@luckie1367 If my CAR doesn’t go through I’m going to be living in Rieber Vista! That’s good to hear, thank you.
@luckie1367 @UCLA17 woooo me too!!! that’s very good to hear
Does anyone know if we have to accept our financial aid offer before registering for classes?

Den Pass was much more expensive than I was expecting… but I’ll be at all the games now!
For anyone else who might purchase one, you’ll be asked for your BAR (or SBAR) which is just your ID number
Then den pass was $129, it just increased to $169 recently.
Does anyone know when we will find out about our parking application and if it got accepted?? Im a commuter and I’m really worried I won’t get my pass, I applied on the first day so I’m wondering if we shouldve heard by now?
