Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

Correct @UCLA17 you can rent a microfridge. Contact ORL (310) 825-3401 for more info as I can’t find online. You can bring your own small fridge but not microwave.

I think I’m the only one still waiting on parking, but I just got an email that it will be sent out on the 21st now…

I’m curious if I’ll get my roommate assignment or parking decision first…hmmm… :-??

@luckie1367 do you know when we’ll get our roommate assignments by any chance?

If any of ya’ll living in any of the deluxe halls (Gardenia/Holly/Cove/Landing) want a tour of how the rooms look like, check out this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnusjkbrXto

It’s a video of Gardenia but the layout of the rooms and buildings, with the exception of the width of the hallways, are the exact same for all 4 deluxe halls.

@UCLA17 I think around late August. I was looking at last year’s thread, and it seemed to be 4-6 weeks before the school year started.

Can someone show me where to check my IGETC certification status-- whether or not they’ve received it? Thank you.

@iwantcoffee go to MyUCLA → Academics (on that little bar between ‘classes’ and ‘finances and jobs’) → Degree Progress/Audit Report → run an audit.

I posted a picture of what it looks like here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18704096/#Comment_18704096

Its under ‘General Education Exemption Status’

@luckie1367 Thanks! Really appreciate it.

There are a limited number of parking spaces. They can’t create parking out of thin air. More people are getting jobs while attending college, so it makes sense that parking would be more limited.

If you don’t think it’s fair, just realize that this is a part of a machine that lobbies for living close to campus, which IMO is a very good idea. An hour away is really the upper limit, if not beyond it.

Hey guys do you know how we tell the ASHE center that we have our own insurance? I know we can save 1,200 if we do so but I’m having trouble navigating the site.

Also do you know how we “view” our eFAN (financial aid/loan offerings). I have been looking at the amounts offered on myUCLA under finances etc but apparently I haven’t “viewed it” according to the financial aid office??

Thanks

Can we accept all the loans given to us and then if they are more than what tuition will cost just not use all of them? I think my parents are taking some and then I’m taking some but the tuition calculator includes things like housing and I’m a commuter so it won’t be 25 k

Sorry I can’t log in to my D’s account to check further. If I recall last year, we did a worksheet that we then used to answer the online questionnaire.

Hey guys, I have a single at Rieber Terrace, but it’s too expensive so I would like to switch with someone who has a triple. Any takers? Help would also be greatly appreciated!

@lcj1994 when you accept your financial aid offer, you can mark undecided (yellow question mark) and always come back and change it!
I did that with work study because I’m not sure if I want to work my first quarter

Is UCSHIP included in tuitions and fees? Or is it an added charge? I keep getting mixed answers of yes and no, but I do get the grant for it

Thought this was interesting. I got UCLA :smiley:

@dixiepig012 my D just got switched yesterday to a single so I know there is at least one triple in RT available. Although it is past the deadline, call housing!

@fncrane it’s an added charge.

Also, for loan amounts, you can take up as much as they’ve offered, and just pay back what you don’t use. I don’t like surprises, so thats what I’m doing to make sure I’ve got everything covered.

@fncrane I got UCLA too :x

@Happy2Help Thanks! I think I have something set up now
