Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

Old news, but still! Whoo! http://dailybruin.com/2014/03/10/new-fitness-center-to-open-on-the-hill-in-fall-2015/

@luckie1367
Wooden Rec Center for lyfe. :smiley:

@Cayton I absolutely LOVE the JWC, but having a gym so close to my dorm that is undergrad-only would be amazing!

@luckie1367 when I went on a tour during Bruin Day they said that gym is now projected to be finished in 2016. :confused: I think he even said Fall 2016.

@onmyway8 NOOOOOOOO :((

It’s THIS FALL they are scheduled to open!

@luckie1367
Definitely. I wish it were there when I was dorming.

@fncrane
So, apparently I’m a UCSD student now. Go Tritons lol

@Cayton at least you’re not an anteater :))

Santa Cruz lol

Merced >:D<

@fncrane
Ain’t nothing wrong with UC Irvine. Zot zot zot amirite?

Riverside, lol

I forgot to ask about this on here, but did y’all get the email about Alcohol Edu being mandatory a couple days ago? I thought the only one that was mandatory was the “think about it” program

@fncrane
They’re both mandatory. If you don’t do it, they’ll put a hold on your records. Not fun.

Hey guys I need some guidance Im really stressed that Ill miss a deadline and not be alb to get any loans. For the FAN is there a deadline for when we have to apply and go through all the steps and check off that we’ll be accepting them? My parents are looking into the parent PLUS loan which needs to be applied for via student loans.gov and we get that link after we accept/decline our FAN. The thing is its giving me 25k in loans for the year when I will be living at home and it won’t cost nearly that much, I don’t know if i should accept all the loans t be safe and then deal with the pay back or wait for our actual bill (courses etc) to come out and then accept the exact amount? Is there a way for us to know how much our year will cost? And do you know if we have a deadline to accept the fan, do we have to before our official bill comes out on the 20th (22? not sure exactly). Thanks guys!! Stressin’ over here lol

I suggest calling the FA office.

There’s no deadline per say but you will want to get your loans disbursed before tuition is due obviously.

@fncrane, plus, whats the harm in doing them even if they are not required? You learn a little bit about alcohol, which could be life-saving.

@Icj1994 There is no FA deadline per say, but you’ll definitely want to get your ducks in a row before disbursement on Sep 14th. The PLUS loan takes all of 5 minutes to get approved for, and the MPN takes about 10.

I think I already told you my plan re: taking out more than needed. I’m taking out the full offer, but paying back anything I don’t need immediately. That way I’ve got my bases covered, but still not taking everything. Also remember that FA will get disbursed 3 times this academic year.

Here is the fee chart broken down by $ per quarter:
http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/fees/fall15fee.htm#anchor-UG
Undergrads are the left-most column. Remember that this includes the health insurance payment, which you may or may not have waived.

You can also change the amounts on your FAN if needed. At least on mine, I had the option to type in the amount I’d accept.

I think I read somewhere that the bill gets posted on 8/20 with payment expected on 9/20, and since FA will be disbursed on 9/14 there shouldn’t be any problems.

What’s the difference between ‘MyUCLA Gradebook Final Grade’ and ‘Official Final Grade’?

@anikom15
My guess is that one is the grade the professor puts in their personal records and the other is supposed to reflect that on your transcripts. The grade is always the same though from my experience.
