What’s that lol
@liveinthelbc I have only heard of “likely letters” for incoming freshmen.
Congrats. That email sounds pretty darn good.
First of all, are you a transfer? Next, I would email them at the email they list for questions and ask if you’re admitted. They know more than we do.
@lindyk8 Yes, I am a transfer student from an out of state school. I’ve seen these letters sent to freshmen students that were admitted, so I was wondering if that meant I was in too. I’m not sure if I want to send them an e-mail… I think I’d rather wait for the admission decisions to go out haha.
It would be amazing if that invitation meant I’m in. I have to fly in for the Open House and I’d be surprised if they made people attend from out of state to later send them rejections. So fingers crossed!
well, it sounds like a yes to me. Fingers crossed.
I just did some research on the letter you got. The invitation is sent to applicants whose departments (in the arts only) have recommended them for admission. Congrats!
@cinemamedia What are your stats? Gpa?
@Peter0001 My stats are:
Transfer student from a top private school out of state.
Junior level
Major: Architecture
GPA : 3.4
Major Prereqs : Finished all of them, hopefully they will transfer.
ECs : a lot of volunteer experience (habitat for humanity) and work experience at arch firms.
Essays: I felt they were really good. I wrote about new beginnings, and what made me leave everything and come to LA (without getting into too much detail, I left school because I was in an abusive relationship)
Portfolio: Again, I felt pretty good about it, I included architectural work samples as well as a lot of work in different media (painting, drawings, etc)
I am honestly extremely surprised and ecstatic that they even sent the invitation. I only applied to UCLA and Berkeley, and was not keeping my hopes up because of my GPA.

I don’t know why that was posted twice, sorry!
Did anyone else who applied to the School of Arts and Arch receive that e-mail?
Hey guys, can someone help me with my situation. So I realized by summer I will only be able to complete all IGETc requirements except for the language one! I intend to let them know that I will be able complete my planned courses as indicated on my app but I cannot fulfill the language one which I did not plan for. However, I’m an immigrant from Vietnam…fully capable of speaking writing and understanding Vietnamese. Will they jeopardize my admission if I don’t have the language requirement? Since that will have me not completed my igetc .
@Npham95 do you have any HS language courses that could count?
“Satisfactory completion, with “C” (2.0) grades or better, of two years of formal schooling at the sixth grade level or higher in an institution where the language of instruction is not English. Appropriate documentation must be presented to substantiate that the required coursework was completed. If an official sealed transcript cannot be obtained from a foreign institution an unofficial or opened transcript may be used to verify proficiency.”
@luckie1367 and @lindyk8: thank you for your input on this. I do have official opened transcript from Vietnam so I think I will write something like “I will be able to complete my planned courses for my IGETC requirements as declared on my application and also provide opened official transcript from Vietnam to verify my proficiency in Vietnamese to qualify for the igetc language requirement” do you think this message is sufficient?
Doesn’t your CC verify IGETC? So you should talk to them, not the UCs.
@luckie1367 and just to answer your question. I did not take any language course since I came to the States
@Npham95 What is your CC’s policy on foreign coursework? Will they allow it for IGETC?
You need to show a copy of the transcript to your CCC advisor and then they will automatically certify IGETC. That’s the way it is done. You do not need official transcripts, just a copy. Do not do it the way you suggest.
My 4 local CCs always want official transcripts and the admissions department certifies records for IGETC, not the advisor.
Does anyone get email from UCLA asking for proof of major preps? If yes, what kind of proof should I submit? Like a screenshot of my schedule or something else?
Can I tell if it’s a positive sign? I wonder because they ask for the proof of the last three major preps, which are all math classes. Also, the email is from University of California Undergraduate Application for Admission and Scholarships. And they kinda rush because it requires a response within 3 business days or my app will be delayed or cancelled.
