for all the leos on here… maybe this bit of horoscope will give you hope
“Despite the fact that things are already starting to come together professionally it’s also important to keep a sense of wanderlust, curiosity and adventure alive. The Sun knows that when he returns to your career sector in 2 days time he’ll team up with forces already shaking your professional expectations and opening new doors, while also bringing even more professional focus. In a way this is a last hurrah, embracing a sense of adventure before things become even more professionally focused.”
I’m on a field trip right now with my CC and the man who organized the trip said that he has a friend at UCLA right now who’s there for a conference, and they told him that decisions are going to be released tonight. Let’s hope he’s right!
@cassinthesky I think your stats look good. You overcame a lot, it seems. I’m obsessed with getting in, but try to remind myself that not getting in doesn’t make me stupid/reflect poorly on my abilities. We try our best and then it’s luck from there on out.
@gdkane hey fellow Sociology major! Thanks for the inside information
@LM1993 you make a very good point and I think that it is always important to remember that we are not defined by anyone else’s opinion of us, let alone UCLA’s!
(however good it may feel to have a dream come true)
@olivia1093 I was responding to the fact that you said listing an alternate major as a TAP student means that they will automatically reject you from an impacted major because you happened to list an alternate major, which TAP allows. I think your chances of getting in an impacted major are the same as a non-TAP transfer. People with TAP just have the added bonus of getting into an alternate if they happen to be rejected from their primary major.
Yeah, last year I got my UCLA result around 6:30PM or so. Irvine was the earliest, 9AM I got my result. UCLA and UCSD sent it out around 5.
@LM1993 that’s very true! that’s an awesome perspective to have; I’ve been so stressed about not getting in that I didn’t even think of this. thanks for your kind words!
Irvine hasn’t come out yet either I heard from a lot of sources that its going to be next week
If you guys get a straight up, official decision you will come here and post immediately so we can all refresh our pages right? Be bros to your fellow neurotics.
@UniversalSnip hell yes.
I hope decisions really do get released today, I’ve been waking up at ungodly times for the past week with this being the first thing on my mind.
I can’t believe I have only heard from UCSB and that was March 16th. It is ridiculous how they all wait until the end to release their decisions together. Hopefully UCI, SD, and LA will do us an overdue solid and just release em today
Blah, hopefully a 3.95 and all pre-reqs done will be enough for CS. Last years transfer statistics make a 3.95 feel like the low tier of GPA’s to get in. My essays an essay and I worked throughout CC, so I’m sweating. Waiting on UCI as well, with all my pre reqs done besides one ‘can also take’ course that wasn’t offered.
@Thiger I don’t personally believe that it is necessarily an “automatic” rejection from comm. If they have spots left over, they will certainly consider you if you’re qualified. However, they (apparently) let in non-TAP certified students in first, which leaves little room for others who are qualified (accept approximately around 100 while close to 1000 apply, and this changes yearly). I agree that TAP does give an added bonus, but the comm major itself is not tap certified, and admissions officers have repeatedly stated this. Comm studies is the ONLY major in the college of l&s where tap does not apply. A student can be tap certified, but it does not mean that your major is. A tap student can still get into UCLA as an alternate major if he/she is rejected from comm. Again, please do not quote me and the process is not my personal speculation. I’m simply repeating what I’ve heard.
Hey guys!
I’ve been reading this forum for a while now and I’m deciding to post in it because decisions are coming out so soon!
I’m getting really nervous and was wondering if anyone can chance me and maybe it will calm my nerves a little bit,
Major: psychology
Gpa: 3.86
Igetc:Yes
Major Prep: Yes
TAP: No
Extra Curricular: solid
Personal Statement: Had it read over a thousand times and I’d say it’s pretty good.
I’m also a one year transfer! Hope every one here gets good news!
I heard back from UCSD on March 15 before I even heard back from UCSB. I find it more weird than anything. WAS IT A MISTAKE?!?
@administered You can check these transfer statistics from last year:
https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof14_mjr.htm
From what it seems, your gpa is higher than the average admitted, so I’d say you’re probably fine.
Yes I heard from SD over a month ago and they’ve been mailing me brochures about triton life ever since, lol.
@littlebill I think select people heard from UCI or UCSD if they had exceptional stats like regents or whatever. Most people have not though
