Newsroom??
Do I have an ok chance with a 3.5 GPA for molecular, cell, and developmental biology? I’m a transfer from an out of state public school… I have good EC’s and recommendations but wasn’t able to fulfill 2 of the prereqs due to the classes being full by the time I registered.
@tropical9999 what prereqs are you missing?
Im refreshing newsroom like every 5 minutes but still nothing
@tropical9999 I have the same stats but all my prereqs done
@Salmanthgr8 I’m missing orgo lab (people in my school usually take it as a senior) and Calc 2 cause my major didn’t require it at my school (I took statistics instead). I finished chem 1 and 2 with lab, physics 1and 2 with lab, and will finish orgo 1 and 2 this year.
I can’t concentrate on my studies. ):
@tropical9999 its recommended to take physics series at UCLA
@tropical9999 It doesn’t look so good because calc 2 is required. They are really strict on prereqs. Are you TAP because if you are they will consider you for your alternate major
Is it possible to change from an impacted major to a non-impacted major once admitted even if you have only half of the major prep done for the major you want to switch in to? Example: psychology to psychobiology
@Salmanthgr8 No I am not in TAP:( my alternate major is neuroscience!
@administered You can’t switch into a life science major because its very impacted. I don’t know where you got the idea that its not:
- Demand for all life science majors significantly exceeds space available. Because life science majors require the completion of extensive preparatory course work prior to transfer, you must be admitted directly into a life sciences major; you will not be able to change from a non-life sciences major into a life-sciences major after admission to UCLA.

@administered To my knowledge, yes, that is usually okay. It’s generally just impacted majors you cannot switch into.
@HopeInLA in the recommended courses for the major it says physics… I don’t think completing recommended courses would hurt in anyway.
can someone please call lol the not-knowing is KILLING me
Psychology and psychobiology are same department and usually it’s easy to switch your major within same department after you done all the pre-req for the new major
^that is true. I might not know that much lol… but that link I posted says that its impossible to switch into a LS major (which psycho-bio is) if you weren’t admitted to one
Heather, I dont think the admissions office even opens until 1pm, so calling won’t help yet. At 1pm I suggest all of you who are more brave than I, call them, and report back.
Someone on the facebook transfer page just posted “It’s confirmed! Many of the transfer admittance letters will go out this evening!” about 20 minutes ago, but I am not sure how they know either
