Fall 2016 Transfer Thread - Cornell University

Your materials might not be missing, I think they are just super behind. My stuff wasn’t checked off for two months and more until I called them. They pulled up my file, and checked it off then.

.

You need to let them know that you sent the materials early and ask them to check if it’s in your profile. I called them a couple of times and they all checked for me. Sometimes there is just a mismatch so they couldn’t put the materials in your profile. By the way, I don’t know about other schools but the ILR admission told me that it is not a rolling admission. Sometimes schools lie because they just want us to submit earlier.

@vancehunyc I will have to disagree because Cornell does give decision on a weekly basis: a portion of decisions will be released every Tuesday staring next Tuesday and will continue till June. From my perspective, the reason why they are so backed up this year is probably because there are too many applicants applying, a record high even because they normally will give the first decisions within four weeks after the deadline but that clearly didn’t happen this year. I guess we’ll just have to be patient

"We do not release decisions on a rolling basis, so you’re fine. We typically begin reviewing files toward the end of March/early April,……

    Interim Director"

I am just quoting what they said…Again this may only represent ILR so the other schools can be different. Releasing decisions at different times doesn’t mean it’s a rolling admission. It may mean that they decide to accept some people earlier than the others. I heard that what they do is (I am not sure about this tho) they accept the best ones first, and reconsider some at the end. So, you can apply very early but get the decision later than some of those who apply later than you do.

I applied for Binghamton right before the deadline and got accepted only four days after they received my transcript. Because all they looked at was GPA and I had a 4.0. So I got the decision earlier than a lot of others who applied on the same day, or even before that.

Does anyone know if international students receive a call from Ian if they are getting accepted?

@blackwidow22 That’s what I’m wondering too…

@NjTransfer2016 , I don’t think it would affect it that much. Considering the fact that they are backed up so much, a lot of application would still be incomplete. Plus, only the notifications are rolling not the admissions process itself.
@Transferdood who is Ian?

@transferind97 Ian is the mvp. He’s the transfer advisor at Cornell for the ILR school. He’s also the one that calls you if you get accepted into ILR. Most people who get accepted usually speak to him at least once at one point during the transfer process.

@NjTransfer2016 I applied to the engineering school haha. Mind “chancing” me?

Since decisions start being released this upcoming Tuesday, does that mean some people received an email from Cornell with instructions? b/c I have yet to hear back!

When I called the college, they said decisions should come out on tuesday

@jeffrey111 Is that for the College of Human Ecology?

Has anyone called about CAS?

Has anyone got any info regarding engineering?

@transferind97 What kind of info? If you mean decisions, not yet…

Well, I guess engineering is always the last college to come out according to the previous thread

I feel like a lot of people don’t have any information regarding release of decision. And according to last years statistics the 21st is rejection day so we shall see.

@blackwidow22 I called asking for a decision by May 1st and one lady told me to email James Finlay regarding this situation. I still haven’t heard from him yet.
What major did you apply to?

Engineering too. I really need the decisions to come out early. I’m an international student and will leave the U.S. for summer on May 17th, so I hope to get everything settled before that. However, based on previous years’ results this might not happen. I’m praying for an early decision…
