Fall 2016 Transfer Thread - Cornell University

@cornell1203 I mailed it and it is marked as received lol

Thanks!

Omg my HS transcripts, College and Midterm report are still missing I’m really anxious…

BTW, I know is communication studies hard to get in? I can’t really find anyone saying they got in in the previous threads…

“Your materials have been received. Your application has been forwarded to the admissions staff for review.”

So now the nervous waiting game begins! So close yet so far.

@Sumner Hey, my college report and midterm report are still missing, yet I submitted by college report in early February. Should I be worried? When did you submit yours?

I uploaded my midterm report march 15th, still hasnt been checked off on my materials page… anyone have the same issue?

@thenarddog1 Same issue as you. I uploaded my midterm on the 15th and it still hasn’t been checked off :frowning:

Remember that was the last day to send the application documents, I’m sure anything sent around that day is still being sorted because they get swamped with a lot of documents all at once

guys this is odd ! I sent my college report together with my college transcript… however, only my college transcript that has been checked off on the application status page… should I call them?

That happened to me too and the college report got checked off later after a couple of days

@resonanx same situation! I’m really worried because this is holding up my application from being reviewed.

Finally all my materials have been checked except the midterm report, which I don’t think to be important… Hope my application will be sent for review soon.

gl all! Lmao as an update, I have sent in my materials but I have sort of lost hope of getting in so I’m expecting the worst :p!

@HereToTransferr Don’t think that way! As competitive as it is, they don’t need perfect students with perfect numbers. I have always felt they need a good balance to “create” a diverse, well-rounded class which means they will seek those students who may not be perfect or even close but who have character, promise or unique mindsets that typical perfect students may not have/show. As long as you keep a positive attitude and you were honest with your reasons of transferring as well as with the work you put in because you were passionate about it and not because you were trying to impress them…they will see you as a good candidate. Remember it is holistic, so they WILL look at the entire picture and not judge you/penalize you without looking at everything.

Unfortunately there a lot of people who are in the same boat and they do have limited seats. So yes, even if you have all of the above you may still get rejected. But at least you can say you gave it your best and you were yourself, and ultimately your time will come

And who knows? Maybe they don’t need another perfect student who has done everything under the sun, maybe they have been waiting for you, or for me, or someone else who may not seem like the type of student who would get in…it wouldn’t be the first or last time

Thanks for the comfort @blackwidow22 It’s just I’ve been extremely busy the past week with 4 exams the past days, maybe it’s because i’m taking a harder coursework for cornel and i’m taking 18 credits this semester idk but it’s just been hard and at these times I think back had I not taken some of the gen ed requirements CHE wanted me to and instead took the easier coursework my school offers would I be as stressed as i m right now?

aee idk, its just even going to a “less ranked” school wasn’t as easy as I thought to be?
maybe it’s my high expectaitons of myself that i’m not doing as well as I want to do? sigh oh well…

I am currently an undergraduate freshman at a small, private university in New York. Although I like it here, Cornell has always been my number one school. I too, have applied for transfer admission to Cornell University for Fall 2016, School of Hotel Administration.

HS GPA: 89 (Honors and AP courses)
College Fall semester GPA: 3.9
College Spring semester GPA (Midterm Report): 4.0
SAT (optional, but submitted anyway) 1600/2400

Currently involved in a bunch of extracurricular activities and some leadership positions throughout campus, two stellar letters of recommendations from my professors, significant work experience in the hospitality industry for over two years.

I have my interview soon. What do you guys think are my chances for admission?

Is there anyone on here who was accepted for Spring 2016/Fall 2016? If so, what are your stats? I know decisions for transfers will be released in the next few weeks, on a rolling basis.

I sent in my Midterm Report on February 24th, and it still has not been checked off yet. @Transferdood

@keurimja Same here! I mailed them a physical copy in February, and it still hasn’t been checked off yet. It was 100% delivered, since I tracked it via UPS. Maybe they lost it in the swarm of application materials?

@HereToTransferr Such inspiring words of wisdom! I was so confident when I applied, but after looking at the admissions stats for the freshmen class of 2020, I have been feeling a bit discouraged. Reading this definitely made my day!

Seriously, I know they said they will notify us for missing items, but this is all very stressful. It just bugs me so much when things are incomplete
