FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@Edirol same. What did you do?

Anyone else apply to USC? I know this is the wrong thread, but I can relate to you all more closely, the struggle was real last week.

I emailed my admissions counselor asking if I may meet with him in person to ask some things about my prospective major as well as try to figure out what I can do about the whole mid-july response time- since I have to SIR to UCLA by then.

He got back to me saying, “What classes are you taking this spring?”

I responded with the necessary information, but what is your feeling on this? I don’t know how privates work. Does he seem interested? I’m so glad UC’s don’t respond to you this personally because now it feels like a relationship in which the crush is super cool and you’re super not and you’re just trying to make it work anyway.

Help your fellow Bruin out (the irony is strong here, I know. It’s the caffeine).

I applied to USC as well. Haven’t heard much. I confirmed UCLA already (first Choice). They did email me and send me a letter about a month ago asking for a couple things and said looking forward to speaking to me soon.

@allison16 You might be able to find some resources here: http://www.transfers.ucla.edu/FAQ#10932620-housing-questions
( http://www.transfers.ucla.edu/FAQ has a lot of good answers to UCLA transfer frequently asked questions!)

I do not know if a group has been created for Fall 2016 transfer students.

Hey guys! did anyone get accepted as a one year transfer?

@forshevchenko you’re not alone!!! I don’t get a penny from the gov

I was hoping if someone could help me out here!
I’ve made an appointment with my transfer counselor, but it isn’t for another week, so I thought I’d give this a shot.
I still need to get my IGETC certified before the June 1 deadline, but should I request for an official transcript from both community colleges I’m attending right now even though two of my classes (1 stats course and an art class needed to fulfill my IGETC requirement) is in progress this semester? Or should I wait until I finish my classes (which is on May 17) and then request for an official transcript so that I can get IGETC certified with my official grades, or does it not matter?

Just a little confused!

@enmngm me haha

@by3000 The transcript deadline for Fall 2015 grades is June 1 and for Spring grades, it’s July 1. If your CC can do IGETC certification in time for June 1, then that’s fine but it’s cutting close plus there’s the Memorial Day holiday. I would advise sending your transcript as it stands now so they get your Fall grades, and then again after June 1.

@by3000 I read on the UCLA site that you have until 9/1 to give UCLA the IGETC certification. Of course the earlier the better! But I would send in transcripts now and order the certification after the semester is over.

@kevinl1997 oh nice!! what was ur major?

Hi everyone, I need your input on my situation…
so basically I got accepted, but I withdrew from one class (non major-related) but that put me at 57 units… I plan to take summer courses, but would they rescind the acceptance?

You need to report this right away!

@vvsharoom2016transfer
Unfortunately being below 60 units is a deal breaker. They won’t count summer courses. I’m 99.8% that they’ll rescind your acceptance. The UCs and CSUs are pretty strict about this requirement. I’m sorry.

@2016Candles
wait, do my AP scores from high school count towards the 60 units? I took two APS and got a 3 on both (world history +language comp) but I only took/am taking 57 units at my local community college

& thanks for responding!!

@vvsharoom2016transfer
I know AP units can be counted towards 60 units, but I don’t know specifics on how it works, or what scores are needed.

@vvsharoom2016transfer
Report it and call admissions and ask them to advise you further.

Why did you drop a class when it could play such a big role and cause such an upset for you? You mentioned it was non-major related so I can’t imagine it was difficult. You could’ve just taken it P/NP and slid by with a 70% and avoided this risk. That’s what I’m doing with 2 of my courses this quarter even though I’m only taking them to remain full-time.

I assume you probably can’t re-add the class it but it can’t hurt to try. Bite the bullet and avoid this hassle if you can.

@vvsharoom2016transfer a few months ago I emailed a UCLA rep and she told me that AP/IB credits are applied to meet the 60 units. Here: “AP/IB credit are applied to meet the minimum 60 transferable semester units.” (:

Hey!

Quick question regarding transcripts- should I start sending them in before for I SIR to UCLA?
I’m still between UCLA and UCSB… but don’t have to much extra cash to drop on two deposits and pay for transcripts…

Just called a counselor and im good! my two APs saved me T__T
@uclabruin96 thank you!
